Regdanvimab is a novel neutralizing antibody agent used for the treatment of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). However, the effectiveness of regdanvimab in delta-variant patients has rarely been investigated. We examined the clinical outcomes and adverse events in COVID 19 patients treated with regdanvimab in the delta-variant era.

Purpose: Sudden unexplained infant death (SUID) is a major contributor to infant mortality, and pediatric nurses have the responsibility to educate parents on SUID-reducing strategies. This study was conducted to measure pediatric nurses' knowledge of SUID-related safe sleep practices (K-SSSP) and infant cardiopulmonary resuscitation (K-ICPR).

Methods: In total, 136 pediatric nurses were administered a survey including K-SSSP (13 items), K-ICPR (5 items), confidence in K-SSSP education (1 item; 5 points), and other factors relating to SUID experiences or education.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to evaluate how elderly patients handle inhaler devices and identify common misuse errors.
  • Inhaler use was monitored using checklists at the initial visit and again after three months of retraining, focusing on correct usage ratios and common mistakes.
  • The results indicated that while only a small percentage of patients used inhalers correctly initially, retraining improved their skills, highlighting that consistent training is crucial regardless of the inhaler type used.

Background: High-risk infants are highly susceptible to skin impairment caused by invasive procedures, radiant warmers, and phototherapy, in addition to their intrinsic vulnerability. This leads to a vicious cycle that aggravates the risk of skin infections. Concerns have been raised that neonatal nurses may lack knowledge regarding feasible guidelines to improve skin integrity of high-risk newborns.

Purpose: Nursing protocols for glucose management are well known for both healthy term newborns and high-risk newborns. However, for less risky newborns who are under only observation surveillance, hypoglycemia could be overlooked unless clinical symptoms develop.

Methods: A retrospective study was performed to explore factors influencing variations in glucose levels in 91 newborns who did not require any interventions, but were under nursing surveillance, at a level II neonatal intensive care unit.

Sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) in Korea remains a poorly-understood subject for both professionals and the public. Recent reports have emphasized ethnic differences in SIDS rates, suggesting that making adjustments in child-rearing practices may contribute substantially to SIDS reduction. Two of the three major risk factors for SIDS-vulnerability of the infant and exogenous factors-need to be understood in particular depth due to their broad scope and sociocultural grounding.

Purpose: The study was conducted to describe body shapes of school age children using the degree of obesity index (DOI) and body mass index obesity index classified by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (M-BOI) and Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education (S-BOI).

Methods: In this cross sectional descriptive study health screening data for school children collected in 2007 was used.

Results: Data were analyzed for 2,193 4th-6th grade boys (52%) and girls who attended 4 schools in rural areas.

Purpose: This was a cross sectional descriptive study to introduce the Infants Coma Scale (ICS), describe mental status of high risk infants using ICS and explore the relationships between ICS and clinical variables in infants hospitalized in a neonatal intensive care unit of a university hospital in Korea.

Methods: After ICS was developed and tested by the authors, a research nurse evaluated the mental status of the infants using the English version of ICS and obtained clinical information on the infants from their medical records.

Results: Data from 88 infants were analyzed.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to conduct a comparative analysis between the perception of parents with premature infants in the NICU and parents with full-term newborns, and in the process to evaluate the effects of NICU educational support on parents with regard to their perception of neonate and parental stress.

Methods: A mixed quantitative design was employed to compare parental perception of neonates using the Neonatal Perception Index (NPI) between the parents of 26 full-term infants (full-term group) and the parents of 22 premature infants in the NICU (NICU group), and also to evaluate the effect of NICU educational support on NPI and parental stress using the Parental Stress Scale (PSS) between the mothers and fathers in the NICU group.

Results: NICU mothers showed the lowest NPI score among full-term and NICU parents.

Purpose: We try to disclose how much the keywords of the papers from the Journal of the Korean Academy of Nursing coincide with MeSH terminologies and to understand the major subjects of the recent nursing research in Korea from keywords.

Methods: Keywords of journals were extracted and compared with MeSH terms. The frequency of the appearance of each keyword was sorted by a descending order.

Purpose: This study was performed to investigate the quantities of three neo-maternal exposures; visiting frequency, auditory contact and physical contact, and to examine the relationship between the quantities of each exposure and maternal attachment, maternal self-esteem and postpartum depression in 40 mothers of NICU babies during the first week in the NICU.

Method: Each neo-maternal exposure was counted at every mother's visit to the newborn and maternal attachment, maternal self-esteem and postpartum depression were measured using the maternal attachment inventory, the maternal self-report inventory and Edinburgh Postpartum Depression Scale (EPDS) on the first and seventh day in the NICU.

Result: The Mean of each neo-maternal exposure was 8.

Purpose: Concept analysis was performed on the behavioral concept of endotracheal suctioning (ETS), to identify the goal, to develop a standardized clinical protocol, to identify the antecedents and consequences, and to differentiate the improper use of ETS.

Method: Walker & Avant's concept analysis was employed using clinical guidelines, books and review articles in which the procedures of ETS were written in detail and published in Pubmed within the last 20 years.

Result: The macro-goal of ETS was to remove accumulated respiratory secretions.

This study was performed to assess the degree of acute pain in children following eye surgery using a Face Pain Rating Scale (FPRS), with a validity and reliability test employing a Numeric/Word Graphic Rating Scale (NWGRS). The degree of pain was obtained at 2, 4, 6, 8 and 24 hours after surgery using the FPRS and NWGRS. The changes in pain intensities were analyzed using a RM-ANOVA, while the relationship between the FPRS and NWGRS was analyzed by a Pearson coefficient in SPSS/WIN.
