[Purpose] This study aimed to investigate the effects of mirror neuron system-based self-observation training on lower limb muscle activity and dynamic balance in patients with chronic stroke. [Participants and Methods] Twenty patients with chronic stroke were randomly assigned to a self-observation training group (n=10) or a control group (n=10). Both groups followed a routine 30-minute exercise therapy regimen five days a week for four weeks.

Article Synopsis
  • Poor dynamic balance after a stroke can lead to asymmetrical gait patterns in patients.
  • This study assessed how dynamic balance relates to gait symmetry in 41 chronic hemiplegic stroke patients by measuring various balance and gait parameters.
  • Results showed a significant correlation between dynamic balance ability and temporal gait symmetry, indicating that improving balance could enhance walking symmetry in post-stroke rehabilitation efforts.

[Purpose] To investigate the effects of intensive aerobic exercise on respiratory capacity and walking ability in chronic stroke patients. [Subjects and Methods] The subjects were randomly assigned to an experimental group (n=6) or a control group (n=6). Patients in the experimental group received intensive aerobic exercise for 30 minutes and traditional physical therapy once a day, five days a week, for four weeks.
