Cartilage is mainly composed of chondrocytes and the extracellular matrix (ECM), which transmits important biochemical and biomechanical signals necessary for differentiation and homeostasis. Human articular cartilage has a low ability for regeneration because it lacks blood vessels, nerves, and lymphatic vessels. Currently, cell therapeutics, including stem cells, provide a promising strategy for cartilage regeneration and treatment; however, there are various hurdles to overcome, such as immune rejection and teratoma formation.

Comparison of tamsulosin plus serenoa repens with tamsulosin in the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia in Korean men: 1-year randomized open label study.

Introduction: In Korea, increasing attention has recently been given to the use of phytotherapeutic agents to alleviate the symptoms of BPH. Serenoa repens has been shown to have an equivalent efficacy to Finasteride or Tamsulosin in the treatment of BPH in previous studies. The present study was designed to compare the efficacy and safety of Serenoa repens plus tamsulosin with tamsulosin only over 12 months in men with LUTS secondary to BPH.

Laparoscopic repair of large bladder herniation presenting as an inguinal hernia.

The bladder is involved in 1% to 3% of all hernia cases. We report a case of a large paraperitoneal bladder hernia (BH) in a 59-year-old man who had a palpable scrotal mass. Several techniques and approaches have been described for managing BHs.

A predictive factor in overactive bladder symptoms improvement after combined anterior vaginal wall prolapse repair: a pilot study.

Purpose: We aimed to determine whether a preoperative urodynamic parameter is a valuable predictor for the persistence of OAB symptoms after the AVP repair.

Materials And Methods: 65 OAB patients with concomitant POP-Q stage III, IV anterior vaginal wall prolapse underwent a surgical repair were involved. All the patients were subjected to a preoperative urodynamic study, for whom the OABSS on questionnaire were preoperatively recorded.

Comparative Analysis of the Efficacy and Safety of Conventional Transurethral Resection of the Prostate, Transurethral Resection of the Prostate in Saline (TURIS), and TURIS-Plasma Vaporization for the Treatment of Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia: A Pilot Study.

Purpose: This study was conducted to perform a comparative analysis of the efficacy and safety of conventional transurethral resection of the prostate (TUR-P), transurethral resection in saline (TURIS), and TURIS-plasma vaporization (TURIS-V) when performed by a single surgeon for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).

Materials And Methods: The clinical data of 73 consecutive men who underwent conventional TUR-P (39), TURIS (19), or TURIS-V (15) for BPH were retrospectively analyzed. All procedures were carried out by a single surgeon between October 2007 and April 2010.
