Objective: We analyzed the changes in voice- and swallowing-related symptoms that occurred over time in patients who underwent thyroidectomy and identified any associated risk factors.

Methods: One hundred and three patients who underwent thyroidectomy were enrolled.

Results: The mean thyroidectomy voice-related questionnaire (TVQ) score before surgery was 12.

Association of FLG single nucleotide variations with clinical phenotypes of atopic dermatitis.

Background: FLG encodes a large protein called profilaggrin, which plays a key role in maintaining an effective skin barrier against the environment. In this study, we identified FLG single nucleotide variations (FLG-SNVs) and evaluated the association of FLG-SNVs with clinical phenotypes including atopic dermatitis (AD)-associated minor clinical features, presence of specific allergic sensitization, and serum parameters.

Methods: Eighty-one Korean patients with AD were enrolled.

This study investigated the prevalence of psoriasis and trends in prescription of medications for patients with psoriasis using the Korean National Health Insurance Claims Database from 2006 to 2015. The prevalence of psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis per 10,000 people increased from 47.4 to 61.

Transoral robotic surgery-based therapy in patients with stage III-IV oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma.

Objective: TORS-based therapy including chemotherapy or RTx was administered to patients with stage III-IV OPSCC. We analyzed the oncological and functional outcomes of stage III-IV OPSCC patients who underwent TORS-based therapy.

Materials And Methods: Between May 2008 and May 2016, 80 patients participated in this clinical trial.

Clinical implications of pathologic factors after thyroid lobectomy in patients with papillary thyroid carcinoma.

Objective: We evaluated the clinical and prognostic significance of pathologic factors by analyzing the treatment results of patients who underwent thyroid lobectomy.

Materials And Methods: We retrospectively analyzed data from 734 patients diagnosed with papillary thyroid cancer who underwent thyroid lobectomy at Korea University Hospital from January 2004 to December 2016.

Results: A total of 734 patients were included in the study and their mean age was 44.

Endoscopic sentinel lymph node biopsy using indocyanine green-neomannosyl human serum albumin.

Objective: The aim of this study was to determine the possibility of endoscopic sentinel lymph node biopsy of the head and neck region using indocyanine green-neomannosyl human serum albumin (ICG:MSA) and a custom-made intraoperative color-and-fluorescence-merged imaging system (ICFIS).

Methods: Using mouse and rabbit models of tongue cancer, we performed sentinel lymph node biopsy using an ICG:MSA tracer and custom imaging system equipped with an endoscope.

Results: ICG:MSA was localized to the cervical lymph node on the ipsilateral side for up to 30 minutes compared to ICG tracer (ICG n = 3, IGC:MSA n = 3).

Each patient in the CSU group who was defined by disease codes between 2003 and 2007 was tracked whether he or she went into remission or not until 2013.

A prognostic scoring system using inflammatory response biomarkers in oral cavity squamous cell carcinoma patients who underwent surgery-based treatment.

Background: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of a scoring system based on the lymphocyte-to-monocyte ratio, neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio, and platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio for predicting disease-specific survival of oral cancer patients treated by surgery.

Methods: From January 2007 to December 2016, we retrospectively analyzed data from 69 oral cancer patients who received surgery.

Results: Lymphocyte-to-monocyte ratio was significantly associated with T classification, N classification, and pathologic stage.

Human Proteome Project aims to map all human proteins including missing proteins as well as proteoforms with post translational modifications, alternative splicing variants (ASVs), and single amino acid variants (SAAVs). neXtProt and Ensemble databases are usually used to provide curated information on human coding genes. However, to find these proteoforms, we (Chr #11 team) first introduce a streamlined pipeline using customized and concatenated neXtProt and GENCODE originated from Ensemble, with controlled false discovery rate (FDR).

Results: The primary lesions were located in the tonsils of 27 patients and in the base of the tongue of 4 patients.

Materials And Methods: We enrolled 128756 cases from 10 hospitals between 2005 and 2010. We analyzed recall rate, cancer detection rate (CDR) per 1000 examinations, positive predictive value (PPV), sensitivity, specificity, false positive rate (FPR), and interval cancer rate (ICR) per 1000 negative examinations according to participant factors including age, breast density, and number of visit to the same institution, and adjusted for confounding variables.

Clinical Impacts of Donor Types of Living vs. Deceased Donors: Predictors of One-Year Mortality in Patients with Liver Transplantation.

Transplantation studies about the clinical differences according to the type of donors are mostly conducted in western countries with rare reports from Asians. The aims of this study were to evaluate the clinical impacts of the type of donor, and the predictors of 1-year mortality in patients who underwent liver transplantation (LT).
