Near-infrared (NIR) radiation has generated considerable industrial and research interest. However, NIR phosphors for this are limited by low quantum efficiency and broad spectra. Rare-earth-containing compounds doped with activators as host systems for NIR phosphors may resolve these limitations.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFThe Ce/Tb doped BaLa(BO) phosphors were synthesized by a conventional solid state reaction method. The synthesized phosphor samples are a single phase of BaLa(BO) and showed angular-shaped fine grains with average particle size from 5 μm to 10 μm. The BaLa(BO):Ce phosphors showed an asymmetric broad blue emission under excitation at 365 nm and the BaLa(BO):Tb phosphors exhibited typical green emission assigned to the 4f-4f transition of Tb under excitation at 254 nm.

The compositions synthesized were determined by the amount of TOP solvent, and the structure phase of the nanocrystals was selected from hexagonal CsMnBr to tetragonal CsMnBr as the amount of TOP solvent increased. The emission peaks of CsMnBr and CsMnBr nanocrystals were observed at 650 nm (red) and 520 nm (green), respectively.

Background: Closed reduction is the standard treatment for nasal bone fractures, which are the most common type of facial bone fractures. We investigated the effect of closed reduction on quality of life.
Methods: The 15-dimensional health-related quality of life survey was administered to 120 patients who underwent closed reduction under general anesthesia for nasal bone fractures from February 2018 to December 2019, on both the day after surgery and 3 months after surgery.
Green-emitting perovskite nanocrystals were synthesized by the modified hot-injection method using three different solvents. The produced nanocrystals showed a narrow green emission band centered at 515-520 nm with full width at half-maximum (FWHM) values of approximately 18-20 nm. The highest photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY) was obtained for the nanocrystal sample synthesized using a paraffin liquid solvent, with a value of 70.

By optimizing the sintering temperature and the content of the phosphor, the highest luminous efficacy was obtained for the 3 wt.% SCASN-based PiG sintered at 400°C, which showed a luminous efficacy of 25 lm/W rad by combining the PiG materials with a blue light-emitting diode (LED) chip-on-board (COB, incident power = 100 mA).

Background: The incidence of skin cancer, which is primarily caused by exposure to ultraviolet radiation, has steadily increased in recent years. The authors of the present study sought to investigate changes in the epidemiology of skin cancer by conducting a retrospective review of patients diagnosed with skin cancer who received related care at a single medical institution.

Background: Defects of the nasal ala and tip have a complex three-dimensional structure that makes them challenging to reconstruct. Many reconstructive options have been described for nasal ala and tip defects, ranging from primary closure to local flaps and skin grafts. However, it is difficult to determine which method will yield the best cosmetic results in each individual case.

Depending on the type of nasal fracture and the situation in which it is being operated, the surgeon will determine the surgical tool. The objective of this study was to investigate whether a periosteal elevator (PE) was a proper device to perform closed reduction for patients with simple nasal fractures.

The authors conducted this study to compare the local flap and skin graft by facial location in the reconstruction after resection of facial skin cancer.
Methods: The authors performed the study in patients that had received treatment in Department of Plastic Surgery, Gyeongsang National University.
Cutaneous leiomyosarcoma is an uncommon superficial soft tissue sarcoma and mainly found in the middle aged to elderly males. It can occur in any part of the body, mostly affecting the extremities and rarely affecting the face. It grows relatively slowly, can be diagnosed by biopsy and is treated by surgical excision.

An odontogenic cutaneous fistula is a pathological communication between the outer skin surface of the face and the oral cavity. Facial cutaneous fistula is a complication of odontogenic infection that is often misdiagnosed with skin infection. We report a rare case, which was diagnosed as basal cell carcinoma based on the biopsy of skin lesions in the patient who had been diagnosed with odontogenic cutaneous fistula.

Background: Zygomatic arch is a bony arch constituting the lateral midface, which consists of 25% of all midface fractures. There are a number of ways to evaluate the extent of zygomatic arch fracture. Some authors have reported successful treatment outcomes using ultrasound (U/S).
