Background: This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to compare the effects of using phenylephrine or norepinephrine on the pH and base excess (BE) of the umbilical artery and vein in parturients undergoing cesarean section.
Methods: The study protocol was registered in INPLASY. Independent researchers searched Ovid-Medline, Ovid-EMBASE, and Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials (CENTRAL) databases and Google Scholar for relevant randomized controlled trials (RCTs).
Background: Remifentanil and sufentanil are potent short-acting synthetic opioid analgesics. The administration of remifentanil has been associated with the incidence of opioid-induced hyperalgesia. Opioid-induced hyperalgesia may be alleviated when opioids, such as morphine, are switched to sufentanil.

VERI-Q SARS-CoV-2 Neutralizing Antibody Detection ELISA Kit (MiCo BioMed, Gyeonggi-do, Republic of Korea, hereafter, "eCoV-CN") is an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay-based sVNT, and VERI-Q SARS-CoV-2 Neutralizing Antibody Rapid Test Kit (MiCo BioMed, hereafter, "rCoV-RN") is a point-of-care lateral-flow immunochromatography test with auto-scanner. A total of 411 serum samples were evaluated.

Propofol exerts a dose-dependent vasodilatory effect, whereas dexmedetomidine induces peripheral vasoconstriction at high plasma concentrations. This study compared the effects of dexmedetomidine and propofol on core temperature in patients undergoing surgery under spinal anesthesia.

In the last several years, there has been a growing interest and public effort toward reducing opioid use in total joint arthroplasty (TJA) in response to the opioid epidemic in the United States.

However, the incidence of, and risk factors for, postoperative hypothermia in patients undergoing surgery under brachial plexus block (BPB) as the primary method of anesthesia remain unclear. This study aimed to determine the incidence of, and risk factors for, postoperative hypothermia in patients undergoing surgery under BPB.

Anticholinergics have been used to manage CRBD. Chlorpheniramine maleate (CPM) is a first-generation antihistamine, which also has anticholinergic effects.

Currently used radiographic measures may inaccurately predict a hip's morphological stability in borderline hips. A recently described radiographic measure, the Femoro-Epiphyseal Acetabular Roof (FEAR) index, has demonstrated an ability to predict stability in the borderline hip.

This retrospective cohort study compared maternal and fetal outcomes between general and spinal anesthesia for cesarean section based on perioperative hemodynamic parameters (pre- and postoperative systolic blood pressure, heart rate), mean difference of hematocrit and estimated blood loss, and neonatal Apgar scores at 1 and 5 min.
Methods: Data from electronic medical records of 331 singleton pregnancies between January 2016 and December 2018 were analyzed retrospectively; 44 cases were excluded, and 287 cases were assigned to the general group (n = 141) or spinal group (n = 146).

There is limited literature reporting the oral pathogen as the causative organism of periprosthetic joint infection. Previous reports demonstrate septic arthritis in native or prosthetic joints due to in elderly or immunocompromised patients associated with tooth abscess and periodontal disease. Our case report is unique because it describes a healthy individual with recurrent gingivitis developing periprosthetic joint infection after total knee arthroplasty as the result of isolated .

Background: The Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) has been placing severe strain on global healthcare systems and medical education programs, leading to growing demands for medical students to assume the role of preliminary healthcare providers.
Objectives: To assess the perception and attitudes of medical students about clinical clerkship training during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Design: A cross-sectional survey with web-based 3-fields/14-items questionnaire was conducted, from April 7 to 14, 2020, to evaluate their self-assessed perception and attitudes on clerkship training of hospital practice under the COVID-19 outbreak and spread among 161 (78 on pre-clerkship course, 83 on clinical clerkship course) medical students at Dankook University College of Medicine, Cheonan, Republic of Korea.
Purpose: Associations between a wide variety of diseases and the microbiome have been extensively verified. Recently, there has been a rising interest in the role the microbiome plays in atopic dermatitis (AD). Furthermore, metagenomic analysis of microbe-derived extracellular vesicles (EVs) has revealed the importance and relevance of microbial EVs in human health.

Purpose: Recently, there has been a rise in the interest to understand the composition of indoor dust due to its association with lung diseases such as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and lung cancer. Furthermore, it has been found that bacterial extracellular vesicles (EVs) within indoor dust particles can induce pulmonary inflammation, suggesting that these might play a role in lung disease.
Methods: We performed microbiome analysis of indoor dust EVs isolated from mattresses in apartments and hospitals.
Background: , considered to be an environmental organism, is a rare cause of human infections. Although in recent years the frequency of infections reported in the literature has increased, few cases of pneumonia caused by have been described. Here, we investigate the clinical characteristics, management, and clinical outcomes of pneumonia caused by .

Materials And Methods: This was a population-based, case-crossover study using National Health Insurance and air pollution data between January 1, 2014 and December 31, 2016.

This paper presents, for the first time, a study to analyze the surface morphology of metal extracted from a high temperature molten salt medium in the electrodeposit using x-ray radiography and computed tomography. Widely used methods such as scanning electron microscopy and inductively coupled plasma-optical emission spectrometry/mass spectrometry are destructive and the related processes are often subject to the air condition. The x-ray imaging can provide rich information of the target sample in a non-destructive way without invoking hydrolysis or oxidation of a hygroscopic sample.

Purpose: Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are common cause of severe cutaneous adverse reactions (SCARs). The present study aimed to investigate the characteristics of SCARs induced by NSAIDs in the Korean SCAR registry.
Methods: A retrospective survey of NSAID-induced SCARs recorded between 2010 and 2015 at 27 university hospitals in Korea was conducted.

Chronic cough is common in the community and causes significant morbidity. Several factors may underlie this problem, but comorbid conditions located at sensory nerve endings that regulate the cough reflex, including rhinitis, rhinosinusitis, asthma, eosinophilic bronchitis, and gastroesophageal reflux disease, are considered important. However, chronic cough is frequently non-specific and accompanied by not easily identifiable causes during the initial evaluation.

However, cumulated observations suggest the presence of genetic risk factors for SCARs other than drug-specific HLA. We aimed to identify a common genetic risk factor of SCARs across multiple drugs.

Background: Propofol is used for supraglottic airway device insertion, often with the i-gel. However, the propofol requirement for i-gel insertion has not been explored in paralyzed patients. This study was performed to explore hemodynamic changes and sedation level with different propofol doses in healthy paralyzed patients when the i-gel was inserted.
