This paper introduces an innovative image classification technique utilizing knowledge distillation, tailored for a lightweight model structure. The core of the approach is a modified version of the AlexNet architecture, enhanced with depthwise-separable convolution layers. A unique aspect of this work is the Teacher-Student Collaborative Knowledge Distillation (TSKD) method.

Medical imaging and deep learning models are essential to the early identification and diagnosis of brain cancers, facilitating timely intervention and improving patient outcomes. This research paper investigates the integration of YOLOv5, a state-of-the-art object detection framework, with non-local neural networks (NLNNs) to improve brain tumor detection's robustness and accuracy. This study begins by curating a comprehensive dataset comprising brain MRI scans from various sources.

Introduction: More young adults (age 18-24 years) in rural areas versus urban areas use electronic nicotine delivery systems (ENDS) - also known as e-cigarettes. Little is known about young adults' perceptions toward ENDS use and cessation. The objective of this study was to examine barriers and facilitators to ENDS use cessation among young adults living in rural areas, as well as their perceptions about ENDS use and cessation and to determine implications for future cessation studies.

Women tend to face many problems throughout their lives; cervical cancer is one of the most dangerous diseases that they can face, and it has many negative consequences. Regular screening and treatment of precancerous lesions play a vital role in the fight against cervical cancer. It is becoming increasingly common in medical practice to predict the early stages of serious illnesses, such as heart attacks, kidney failure, and cancer, using machine learning-based techniques.

To validate the correlation between the signal intensity gradient (SIG) from time-of-flight magnetic resonance angiography (TOF-MRA) and wall shear stress (WSS) determined by phase contrast magnetic resonance (PC-MR), we conducted both experimental and human studies. In the experimental study, we measured WSS in four tubes of different sizes with variable flow rates using PC-MR and TOF-MRA. The flow rates of water in the experimental study ranged from 0.

Electronic nicotine delivery system (ENDS) use continues to grow in rural areas of the United States. In particular, young adults (18-24 years) in rural areas are a hard-to-reach population in regard to understanding the growing ENDS use trend. The purpose of this article was to describe recruitment strategies that were used for a series of ENDS-relevant projects for young adults in rural areas, report recruitment yields from these strategies, and provide methodological considerations to aid researchers in improving recruitment.

Drowsy driving can significantly affect driving performance and overall road safety. Statistically, the main causes are decreased alertness and attention of the drivers. The combination of deep learning and computer-vision algorithm applications has been proven to be one of the most effective approaches for the detection of drowsiness.

Background: This study aimed to examine the mediating effects of parenting style on the relationship between parental stress and behavioral problems of girls with precocious puberty.

Methods: This cross-sectional study analyzed a convenience sample of 200 mothers of girls with precocious puberty at a university hospital located in a metropolitan area. The Parental Stress measurement, Parents as Social Context Questionnaire, and Korean version Child Behavior Checklist (K-CBCL) 6-18 were measured via self-report questionnaires.

Background: It is well known that depression and delinquency in adolescents are highly correlated, but longitudinal studies on the causal relationship between them are not active in East Asia compared to in Western culture. In addition, even the results of research on causal models and sex differences are inconsistent.

Objectives: This study examines the longitudinal reciprocal effects between depression and delinquent behavior in Korean adolescents based on sex differences.

Background: Visitation restrictions due to COVID-19 kept parents from being with their children who were hospitalized in the PICU and from meeting with professional staff.

Aim: This study examined the moderating effect of COVID-19-induced visitation restrictions on the relationship between stress and post-traumatic stress disorder in parents of children admitted to the paediatric intensive care unit.

Study Design: We conducted a descriptive, exploratory study involving 93 parents of children hospitalized in the paediatric intensive care unit using the Korean version of the Parental Stressor Scale: Paediatric Intensive Care Unit and the Revised Impact of Events Scale.

The objective of the present study was to evaluate the effects and safety of sarpogrelate hydrochloride (sarpogrelate) in patients with elevated blood viscosity (BV), after 12 and 24 weeks of twice (BID) or thrice (TID) daily administrations of sarpogrelate (100 mg). The participants received oral sarpogrelate administration for 24 weeks and visited the hospital every 12 ± 2 week for blood viscosity measurements at shear rates of 5 and 300 s. The BV measured at shear rate of 5 s in male patients decreased significantly from 18.

Objectives: Early detection of developmental issues in infants and necessary intervention are important. To identify the comorbid conditions, a comprehensive evaluation is required. The study's objectives were to 1) generate scale items by identifying and eliciting concepts relevant to young children (12-71 months) with developmental delays, 2) develop a comprehensive screening tool for developmental delay and comorbid conditions, and 3) assess the tool's validity and cut-off.

In recent years, with the gradual development of medicine and deep learning, many technologies have been developed. In the field of beauty services or medicine, it is particularly important to judge the degree of hair damage. Because people in modern society pay more attention to their own dressing and makeup, changes in the shape of their hair have become more frequent, e.

Background: Common carotid artery (CCA) and internal carotid artery (ICA) are aligned linearly, but their hemodynamic role in ischemic stroke has not been studied in depth.

Objectives: We aimed to investigate whether CCA and ICA endothelial shear stress (ESS) could be associated with the ischemic stroke of large artery atherosclerosis (LAA).

Methods: We enrolled consecutive patients with unilateral ischemic stroke of LAA and healthy controls aged >60 years in the stroke center of Jeonbuk National University Hospital.

Objectives: (a) To examine associations between public health nurse (PHN) workforce factors (PHNs' highest education and PHNs' mean years of employment) and health-risk behaviors (smoking and physical inactivity rates), and (b) to investigate the associations between PHN workforce factors and premature mortality rates across all counties of the United States.

Design: Secondary analysis.

Sample: A total of 5,705 PHNs from the 2015 National Nursing Workforce Survey and 2,977 U.

Background: The biopsychological, pathological and physical characteristics of Yin-Yang (Eum-Yang in Korean) have been suggested using Sasang Personality Questionnaire (SPQ), however, the revision of SPQ is required for escalating its clinical use and multidimensional study on Yin-Yang.

Methods: 274 university students were recruited to complete the SPQ, candidate items of revised SPQ (rSPQ) along with the Temperament and Character Inventory (TCI). After selecting rSPQ items using Item Analysis and Explorative Factor Analysis, its psychometric property was examined using Confirmatory Factor Analysis, Pearson's correlation and -test.

Visibility is a complex phenomenon inspired by emissions and air pollutants or by factors, including sunlight, humidity, temperature, and time, which decrease the clarity of what is visible through the atmosphere. This paper provides a detailed overview of the state-of-the-art contributions in relation to visibility estimation under various foggy weather conditions. We propose VisNet, which is a new approach based on deep integrated convolutional neural networks for the estimation of visibility distances from camera imagery.

Advance care planning (ACP) is understudied among American Indian individuals. A cross-sectional, self-administered survey was conducted with a convenience sample of 200 American Indian and 436 non-Hispanic White older adults from two Midwestern states to identify correlates of ACP. Compared with their White peers, American Indian older adults were significantly less likely to have an end-of-life (EOL) care plan or to have completed a durable power of attorney for health care (DPAHC) or a living will.
