Kimchi is a traditional Korean dish made from fermenting vegetables. The fermentation process is crucial for enhancing its quality and flavor during storage. Approaches such as hyperspectral imaging (HSI) and chemometrics (PLS, partial least square; SVR, support vector regression) including principal component analysis (PCA), and 2-dimensional correlation spectroscopy (2D-COS) can detect key physical and chemical components and changes in total soluble solids (TSS), pH, titratable acidity (TA), salinity, and lactic acid bacteria (LAB).

Autoimmune hemolytic anemia (AIHA) is also one of the autoimmune complications of COVID-19. However, AIHA accompanied by acute tubulointerstitial nephritis (ATIN) caused by SARS-CoV-2 is rarely reported.

However, the mechanisms by which modulating the dopamine system relieves the pathology of the ischemic brain remain unclear. Emerging evidence from an experimental mouse model of ischemic stroke, established by middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO), suggested that L-DOPA has the potential to modulate the inflammatory and immune response that occurs during a stroke.

Despite the existence of various types of salted seafood, the factors influencing this quality have yet to be identified. These factors are essential for improving the quality of salted seafood, optimizing the fermentation process, and advancing the industrialization of fermented foods.

Yet, their efficacy varies among tumors and their use poses challenges in immunosuppressed patients, underscoring the need for alternatives. We report striking antitumoral effects by a nonlytic viral vector based on attenuated lymphocytic choriomeningitis virus (r3LCMV).

This study aimed to examine the effects of seasonal harvesting (spring, summer, fall, and winter) on the microbial and metabolic profiles of kimchi during 30 days of fermentation. Lactic acid bacteria distribution is notably influenced by seasonal variations, with Latilactobacillus dominant in fall-harvested kimchi group and Weissella prevailing in spring, summer, and winter.

Methods: A retrospective study was conducted with 122 patients diagnosed with stage III or IV ovarian cancer with preoperative CT and/or PET/CT images from 2006 to 2022. Imaging studies were evaluated for the presence, size and location of suspicious EALNs.
Mollusca species shell such as oyster shell (OS) and snail shell (SS), are discarded after taking the meat, and the discarded shell causes the environmental problems. Therefore, recycling shell waste could potentially eliminate the environmental problems. This study aimed to evaluate the potential of OS and SS as natural calcium resources.

It is previously demonstrated that cowpea mosaic virus (CPMV) induces durable antitumor responses when used in situ, i.e.

Here, we develop a strategy to identify cell types from extracellular recordings in awake animals, revealing the computational roles of neurons with distinct functional, molecular, and anatomical properties. We combine optogenetic activation and pharmacology using the cerebellum as a testbed to generate a curated ground-truth library of electrophysiological properties for Purkinje cells, molecular layer interneurons, Golgi cells, and mossy fibers.

Capsaicinoids are the main components of red pepper. Therefore, understanding changes in metabolites during kimchi fermentation according to capsaicinoid concentration is necessary to control the quality of kimchi.

This study explored the effects of various garlic varieties on kimchi fermentation, focusing on changes in microbial communities and metabolite profiles. We observed that the type of garlic used did not significantly alter the microbial community.

We investigate the interplay between spin-phonon coupling and spin textures in a 2D van der Waals magnet by combining magneto-Raman spectroscopy with cryogenic Lorentz transmission electron microscopy. We find that when stable skyrmion bubbles are formed in the 2D magnet, a field-dependent Raman shift can be observed, and this shift is absent for the 2D magnet prepared in its ferromagnetic state.

Purpose: To determine the clinical outcomes of keratorefractive lenticule extraction (KLEx) in eyes with epithelial basement membrane dystrophy (EBMD) that developed after surgery.
Setting: Onnuri Smile Eye Clinic, Seoul, South Korea.
Design: Retrospective single-center study.
Background: It is unknown whether high hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) is associated with increases in the risk of cardiovascular disease among individuals with elevated genetic susceptibility. We aimed to investigate the association between HbA1c and atrial fibrillation (AF), coronary artery disease (CAD), and ischemic stroke according to the polygenic risk score (PRS).
Methods: The UK Biobank cohort included 502,442 participants aged 40-70 years who were recruited from 22 assessment centers across the United Kingdom from 2006 to 2010.
As the β-phenyl-α,β-unsaturated carbonyl (PUSC) structure was previously identified to play a key role in tyrosinase inhibition, 14 analogs with a PUSC structure built on a thiazol-4(5H)-one scaffold were synthesized using Knoevenagel condensation to serve as potential tyrosinase inhibitors. Through mushroom tyrosinase inhibition experiments, two analogs 9 and 11 were identified as potent tyrosinase inhibitors, with 11 exhibiting an IC value of 0.4 ± 0.

Materials And Methods: Eighty-one patients with hip surgery in the two years prior to COVID-19 pandemic were classified as Group A, and 103 patients in the next two years were designated as Group B. The subjects' walking ability was evaluated by using the modified Koval index (MKI).
Purpose: The aim of this study was to compare short-term results from use of the direct anterior approach (DAA) and the conventional posterolateral approach (PLA) in performance of bipolar hemiarthroplasty for treatment of femoral intertrochanteric fractures in elderly patients.
Materials And Methods: A retrospective review of 100 patients with intertrochanteric fractures who underwent bipolar hemiarthroplasty was conducted. The PLA was used in 50 cases from 2016 to 2019; since that time we have used the DAA in 50 cases from 2019 to 2021.
