The yellow catfish is an economically significant freshwater fish with increasing importance in aquaculture. However, the low temperature environments prevalent in certain regions pose challenges to its growth, development, and overall health. This study aimed to explore the impact of dietary arginine (Arg) addition on the growth, digestive capacity, and intestinal antioxidant response in fish under low temperature acclimation (18 °C).

Some members of the Chlamydiales order, particularly Chlamydia, Waddlia, and Parachlamydia, have been associated with adverse pregnancy outcomes in humans and animals. Recently, the existence of another Chlamydia-like bacterium, namely Simkania, has been confirmed in the genitalia of adult females, but its possible pathogenic role has not yet been examined. In comparison to other members of Chlamydiales, the presence of Parachlamydia in the urogenitalia of human females and its involvement in obstetrical complications is less convincingly investigated and still a matter of debate.

Introduction: Mitral regurgitation is one of the most common forms of valvular heart diseases for which there have been several innovative treatment strategies that have developed over the last several decades. We describe the various treatment modalities that have been used for the last several decades. All articles in PubMed, Cochrane, and Embase were screened from inception to August 2024 for the following - 'Mitral valve regurgitation' 'Mitral valve repair' 'Mitral valve replacement' 'Robotic mitral surgery' 'Transcatheter mitral valve repair.

Article Synopsis
  • The scarcity of drinking water has led to increased interest in efficient methods for removing hazardous substances, particularly heavy metals, from wastewater.
  • A new sludge-based activated carbon adsorbent (SBAC1 and SBAC2) was developed to effectively remove cadmium (Cd) and lead (Pb) from water, demonstrating high efficiency with nearly complete elimination of these metals.
  • The study utilized various analytical tools to characterize the adsorbents, establishing SBAC2's superior surface area and pore size, and confirmed strong adsorption performance and recyclability over multiple uses, making them promising options for treating contaminated water.

There is a special relationship between major depressive disorder and excessive daytime sleepiness. However, given the negative impact of excessive daytime sleepiness on life quality and cardiovascular outcome in hypertensive patients, the objective of this study was to investigate the potential role played by major depressive disorder in the occurrence of this complaint for this particular subpopulation. Data from 1404 hypertensive patients recruited from the Sleep Unit's polysomnographic recordings database were analyzed.

The translocation t(14;18) activates BCL2 and is considered the initiating genetic lesion in most follicular lymphomas (FL). Surprisingly, FL patients fail to respond to the BCL2 inhibitor, Venetoclax. We show that mutations and deletions affecting the histone lysine methyltransferase SETD1B (KMT2G) occur in 7% of FLs and 16% of diffuse large B cell lymphomas (DLBCL).

Background: Chronic systemic anticoagulation use is prevalent for various thromboembolic conditions. Anticoagulation (usually through heparin products) is also recommended for the initial management of non-ST-elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI).

Aims: To evaluate the in-hospital outcomes of patients with NSTEMI who have been on chronic anticoagulation.

Background: A multiple-choice question (MCQ) is a frequently used assessment tool in medical education for both certification and competitive examinations. Well-constructed MCQs impact the utility of the assessment and, thus, the fate of the examinee.

Aims And Objectives: To analyze the basic science faculty perceptions of writing high-quality MCQs, to create awareness of item-writing flaws in constructing high-quality MCQs, and to determine the impact of faculty development training workshops (FDTWs) on MCQ writing skills.

Article Synopsis
  • Anaerobic co-digestion of paperboard sludge (PS) and sewage sludge (SS) enhances biogas production by finding the optimal mixing ratio of 50:50, resulting in a methane yield of 241.68 mL/g COD and improved conversion efficiencies for proteins, carbohydrates, and volatile fatty acids (VFAs).
  • The co-digestion process promotes the growth of beneficial bacteria that help convert complex organic matter into biomethane, mitigating issues like VFA accumulation and nutrient imbalances.
  • A combined system for anaerobic digestion and thermal treatment can produce biochar while generating significant profits from biogas and carbon credits, with a projected payback period of 6.60 years, though further research is still

Multiple types of fistulas associated with the appendix have been reported; however, duodenal fistula resulting from perforated acute appendicitis has only been documented in one previous case. In this report, we present the case of an 18-year-old male patient who was diagnosed to have a complicated appendicitis in its normal position with abscess formation. He was started on IV antibiotics and underwent a CT-guided drainage of the abscess with drain placement.

Background: Using the bi-nostril 4-hand technique during the endoscopic endonasal approach (EEA) facilitates bimanual microsurgical techniques yet requires resection of the posterior nasal septum. The surgical exposure and degree of maneuverability gained proportionate to the extent of posterior septectomy in the sagittal plane was previously quantified.

Research Question: We aim to describe our technique of posterior septectomy, and the effect of its extent in the axial plane on surgical access, and instrument maneuverability.
