- The systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to compare treatment outcomes of shock wave lithotripsy (SWL) and ureteroscopic lithotripsy (URSL) for ureteral stones based on size.
- A total of 18 eligible studies were selected from over 1300 initial articles, with findings showing that URSL had significantly higher stone-free rates (SFR) than SWL in both randomized control trials (RCTs) and non-RCTs.
- Although URSL demonstrated better effectiveness and a lower retreatment rate, the authors noted the need for more randomized trials to draw definitive conclusions.
