Article Synopsis
  • Endometriosis is a common condition that can really affect women's health, and researchers are studying if certain gene changes (called SNPs) in a gene called WTAP might increase the risk of getting it.
  • They looked at the genetic information of 473 women with ovarian endometriosis and 459 without it and found that some specific WTAP gene variations could raise or lower the chances of having the condition.
  • The study showed that people with two specific WTAP gene variations had a much higher risk of ovarian endometriosis compared to those without these variations, and the results were confirmed through different tests.

As a molecular marker of the female reproductive system, Paired Box 8 is widely used in pathological diagnosis of gynecological tumors, but it is not clear whether its expression level is related to the development of uterine corpus endometrial carcinoma and molecular subtype classifications. Here, we show that PAX8 is up-regulated in TP53 mutation category of UCEC, which is result from the low methylation level of PAX8 in UCEC. We have identified that genes connected to ribosome, lysosome, ribosome biogenesis and cell cycle as PAX8 targets and demonstrate that modulation of the PAX8-DDX5 interaction influences c-MYC related cell cycle and cell growth.

Epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) accounts for approximately 90% of all ovarian cancer cases and is the most common cause of gynecological cancer death. Understanding the molecular mechanisms of EOC will help develop better diagnostics and more effective treatments. This study aimed to investigate whether long non-coding RNA ADAMTS9-AS1 (ADAMTS9-AS1) could regulate solute carrier family 7 member 11 (SLC7A11) expression and inhibit ferroptosis by sponging micoRNA-587 in EOC progression.

Previous studies reported that miR-330-3p was involved in the progression of several cancers, but the potential roles of miR-330-3p in ovarian cancer (OC) were unclear. In the current study, we aimed to explore the expression pattern and functions of miR-330-3p in OC. The expression level of miR-330-3p in OC tissues and cell lines was detected using RT-qPCR.

Background: Venous thromboembolism (VTE) in ovarian cancer (OC) patients has been widely investigated, but our knowledge on the role of VTE in OC patients receiving chemotherapy is limited. The aim of our study was to investigate the prevalence, risk factors, and prognostic value of chemotherapy-associated VTE in OC.

Methods: Three databases (PubMed, Embase, and the Cochrane Library) were systematically searched from inception to October 14, 2020.

Previous studies indicated that long non-coding RNAs (LncRNAs) were involved in the progression of multiple cancers including ovarian cancer (OV). LncRNA ELFN1-AS1 functioned as an oncogene in many cancers, but its potential roles in OV were largely unclear. In the current study, we were aimed at clarifying the biological roles and molecular mechanisms of ELFN1-AS1 in OV.
