Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) have demonstrated that combining Chinese herbal injections (CHIs) with oxaliplatin plus tegafur (SOX) chemotherapy regimens improves clinical effectiveness and reduces adverse reactions in patients with advanced gastric cancer (AGC). These RCTs highlight the potential applications of CHIs and their impact on AGC patient prognosis. However, there is insufficient comparative evidence on the clinical effectiveness and safety of different CHIs when combined with SOX.

Background: Chinese medicine belly button application (CMBBA) has been used to treat childhood diarrhea (CD) in several randomized controlled trials (RCTs), but its effectiveness and combination strategy still need to be clarified. Therefore, we aimed to evaluate the effectiveness, safety, and the optimal combination strategy of CMBBA in treating CD.

Methods: Up until January 2023, we searched for studies that met our inclusion criteria in six databases, including PubMed, the Cochrane Library, Chinese SinoMed, CNKI, VIP, and Wanfang.

Article Synopsis
  • Myasthenia Gravis (MG) affects neuromuscular transmission, leading to varying levels of muscle weakness and disability; traditional treatments have side effects, and Chinese herbal medicines (CHM) may be a safer alternative with potential benefits.
  • A systematic search identified 19 randomized controlled trials (RCTs) involving 1283 participants, showing that nine different CHMs could help reduce MG symptoms and that Compound Huangqi, when combined with standard treatments, was especially effective.
  • The findings suggest that using CHMs might offer a safer option with fewer side effects than conventional treatments alone, but the evidence's reliability is moderate to low, and the impact on quality of life remains unclear.

In the present study, we aimed to investigate immune-related signatures and immune infiltration in melanoma. The transcriptome profiling and clinical data of melanoma were downloaded from The Cancer Genome Atlas database, and their matched normal samples were obtained from the Genotype-Tissue Expression database. After merging the genome expression data using Perl, the limma package was used for data normalization.

Article Synopsis
  • A clinical trial was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of combining computed virtual chromoendoscopy (FICE) with probe-based confocal laser endomicroscopy (pCLE) for detecting gastric intestinal metaplasia (GIM), gastric intraepithelial neoplasia (GIN), and early gastric cancer (EGC) during endoscopy.
  • The study involved 238 patients across four centers, comparing two groups: one receiving targeted biopsies guided by FICE and pCLE, and the other receiving standard biopsies.
  • Results showed that targeted biopsies significantly improved the diagnostic yield (73.3% vs. 63.6% per patient, and 75.1% vs. 31.5% per

Female pattern hair loss (FPHL) is the most common hair loss disorder in women and it may impact on the psychological and social activities of patients, thereby reducing their quality of life (QoL). Topical minoxidil has been shown to be effective and safe in the treatment of patients with FPHL. The aim of this study was to assess the QoL of patients with FPHL and investigate whether topical minoxidil solution treatment improves the QoL of these patients.
