Background: Plaque progression (PP) is critical between subclinical atherosclerosis and plaque rupture. Small dense low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (sdLDL-C) is considered as the most atherogenic lipoprotein. This study aims to investigate the relationship between sdLDL-C level and PP in patients with stable coronary artery disease.

Background: Recent studies have confirmed that combined surgery and anti-TNF therapy could improve outcomes in patients with perianal fistulising Crohn's disease (PFCD). However, the optimal timing for infliximab infusion after surgical intervention is uncertain. We aimed to determine the long-term efficacy of early initiation of infliximab following surgery among PFCD patients.

Article Synopsis
  • Lynch-like syndrome (LLS) refers to colorectal cancers (CRC) that show microsatellite instability (MSI) or mismatch repair-deficiency (dMMR) but lack detectable germline mutations related to mismatch repair (MMR) genes.
  • In a study involving 404 CRC patients in China, it was found that a significant proportion (66.6%) of MMR-deficient tumors were classified as LLS, and these tumors were diagnosed at an average age of 60.7 years, often with aggressive features like lymph node metastases (50%).
  • The research uncovered that most MMR gene mutations in LLS were variants of unknown significance, and two new mutations in genes ATM and ARID1A were identified, highlighting the

Mammalian transient receptor potential (TRP) channels are major components of Ca signaling pathways and control a diversity of physiological functions. Here, we report a specific role for TRPC1 in the entry of herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) into cells. HSV-1-induced Ca release and entry were dependent on Orai1, STIM1, and TRPC1.

BACKGROUND To analyze the risk factors of anorectal stenosis associated with perianal fistulizing Crohn's disease (PFCD). MATERIAL AND METHODS We retrospectively analyzed 139 cases of PFCD from January 2010 to December 2017 at the Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine. They were divided into 2 groups according to whether anorectal stenosis occurred.

The co-culturing of Pleurotus eryngii var. ferulae and Rhodotorula mucilaginosa was confirmed in our previous studies to be an efficient strategy to improve laccase production by submerged fermentation. To determine the possible regulation principles underlying this behaviour, comparative transcriptomic analysis was performed on P.

Aim: To explore the role and mechanism of total flavone of (TFA) on epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) progress of Crohn's disease (CD) intestinal fibrosis.

Methods: First, CCK-8 assay was performed to assess TFA on the viability of intestinal epithelial (IEC-6) cells and select the optimal concentrations of TFA for our further studies. Then cell morphology, wound healing and transwell assays were performed to examine the effect of TFA on morphology, migration and invasion of IEC-6 cells treated with TGF-β1.

In this study, we constructed an L-methionine-producing recombinant strain from wild-type Escherichia coli W3110 by metabolic engineering. To enhance the carbon flux to methionine and derepression met regulon, thrBC, lysA, and metJ were deleted in turn. Methionine biosynthesis obstacles were overcome by overexpression of metA (Fbr, Feedback resistance), metB, and malY under control of promoter pN25.

Dysregulation of microRNA is strongly implicated in the chemoresistance of cancer. In this study, we found that miR-149 was downregulated and involved in chemoresistance in adriamycin (ADM)-resistant human breast cancer cells (MCF-7/ADM). Downregulation of miR-149 was related to hypermethylation of its 5'-UTR; this methylation also affected the expression of the glypican 1 gene, which is both the host and the target gene of miR-149.
