Understanding the mechanisms by which electrodes undergo the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) is necessary to design better materials for aqueous energy storage and conversion. Here, we investigate the HER mechanism on tungsten oxide electrodes, which are stable in acidic electrolytes and can undergo proton-insertion coupled electron transfer concomitant with the HER. Electrochemical characterization showed that anhydrous and hydrated tungsten oxides undergo changes in HER activity coincident with changes in proton composition, with activity in the order HWO·HO > HWO > HWO·2HO.

Developing green perovskite light-emitting diodes (PeLEDs) with a high external quantum efficiency (EQE) and low efficiency roll-off at high brightness remains a critical challenge. Nanostructured emitter-based devices have shown high efficiency but restricted ascending luminance at high current densities, while devices based on large-sized crystals exhibit low efficiency roll-off but face great challenges to high efficiency. Herein, we develop an all-inorganic device architecture combined with utilizing tens-of-nanometers-sized CsPbBr (TNS-CsPbBr) emitters in a carrier-confined heterostructure to realize green PeLEDs that exhibit high EQEs and low efficiency roll-off.

Inverted perovskite solar cells based on weakly polarized hole-transporting layers suffer from the problem of polarity mismatch with the perovskite precursor solution, resulting in a nonideal wetting surface. In addition to the bottom-up growth of the polycrystalline halide perovskite, this will inevitably worse the effects of residual strain and heterogeneity at the buried interface on the interfacial carrier transport and localized compositional deficiency. Here, we propose a multifunctional hybrid pre-embedding strategy to improve substrate wettability and address unfavorable strain and heterogeneities.

A photochemical halogen-bonding-assisted synthesis of vinyl sulfones via radical-radical cross-coupling of vinyl bromines and sodium sulfinates is developed. This methodology offers a facile and efficient approach to various vinyl sulfones with excellent functional group tolerance under metal-, photocatalyst-, base-, and oxidant-free conditions. The reaction is also applicable for the late-stage functionalization of drug molecules and the hectogram scale.

Protein and cell adhesion on temporary intravascular devices can lead to thrombosis and tissue embedment, significantly increasing complications and device retrieval difficulties. Here, we propose an endothelial glycocalyx-inspired dynamic antifouling surface strategy for indwelling catheters and retrievable vascular filters to prevent thrombosis and suppress intimal embedment. This strategy is realized on the surfaces of substrates by the intensely dense grafting of hydrolyzable endothelial polysaccharide hyaluronic acid (HA), assisted by an amine-rich phenol-polyamine universal platform.

What Is Known Already: Human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and HPV-induced cervical lesions are associated with decreased fertility, and cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) treatment may increase the risk of adverse pregnancy outcomes.

Study Design, Size, Duration: Between 2018 and 2020, 190 women with infertility who had abnormal HPV screening or cytology results prior to IVF/ICSI, and were diagnosed with CIN2/CIN3 by colposcopy biopsy at a tertiary hospital, were enrolled in a retrospective cohort study with follow-up until 31 December 2021.

Herein, a facile and efficient dehalogenative arylation of unactivated alkyl halides enabled by electrochemical reductive coupling is developed, affording a series of C(sp)-C(sp) products in moderate to good yields. This protocol proceeds in the absence of transition metal catalysts and redox mediators. The reaction features mild conditions, broad substrate scope, and high tolerance of functional groups and is demonstrated to be applicable for gram-scale synthesis and late-stage functionalization of natural products.

Metal-halide perovskites have potential to achieve bright and efficient electroluminescence due to their favorable optoelectronic properties.
