Background/aim: We previously reported a decrease in prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels in patients with castration-resistant prostate cancer treated with angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARBs). However, no studies have reported the effect of ARBs on PSA variability in patients without a history of prostate cancer. Therefore, we conducted a population-based, retrospective study to determine whether ARBs have an inhibitory effect on elevated PSA levels in Japanese patients without a history of prostate cancer.
