This report describes a case of disseminated proliferative mesocestoidosis in a French bulldog from Aichi, Japan. In July 2023, the dog presented with chronic enteritis, and histological examination of the endoscopic biopsy specimen revealed parasites with suckers. Adult females of the primitively eusocial wasp Polistes jokahamae can change caste in response to photoperiod length. Short-day photoperiod females store more lipids but have less developed ovaries for hibernation (becoming gynes), whereas long-day photoperiod females have fewer lipid stores but more developed ovaries under queenless conditions (becoming egg-laying workers). To explore the physiological mechanisms underlying photoperiod-related caste determination, analyses of gene expression levels in the brains of short- or long-day females were performed.

To develop porous organic frameworks, precise control of the stacking manner of two-dimensional porous motifs and structural characterization of the resultant framework are important. From these points of view, porous molecular crystals formed through reversible intermolecular hydrogen bonds, such as hydrogen-bonded organic frameworks (HOFs), can provide deep insight because of their high crystallinity, affording single-crystalline X-ray diffraction analysis. In this study, we demonstrate that the stacking manner of hydrogen-bonded hexagonal network (HexNet) sheets can be controlled by synchronizing a homological triangular macrocyclic tecton and a hydrogen-bonded cyclic supramolecular synthon called the phenylene triangle.

Anti-leucine-rich glioma-inactivated 1 (LGI1) encephalitis is a treatable form of limbic encephalitis, marked by frequent focal seizures and cognitive decline (particularly memory disturbance); however, it can be difficult to diagnose in patients with subtle cognitive decline. Ictal pouting, a rare seizure feature, has not yet been reported in anti-LGI1 encephalitis. A 73-year-old man with anti-LGI1 encephalitis presented with subacute onset of frequent ictal pouting without apparent cognitive decline.
