Background: There are currently few appropriate instruments for assessing nutrition care competencies in clinical practice. This study aimed to develop a perceived nutrition care competencies (PNCC) scale for dietetic students and test its validity. Factors that influence PNCC scores were examined through a cross-sectional study.

Methods: This 24-month prospective cohort study involved 143 Japanese older adults (≥65 years of age) with long-term care insurance.

Introduction: Intramedullary spinal cord abscesses (ISCA) are rare and caused by central nervous system infections. Although polymicrobial infections are rarely seen in ISCAs, isolation of the causative pathogen is important for treatment. Here, we describe a very rare case of ISCA resulting from a mixed Streptococcus and Actinomyces infection.

Fibroblast growth factor (FGF) signalling plays a crucial role in the morphogenesis of multiple tissues including teeth. While the role of the signal has been studied in tooth crown development, little is known about root development. Of several FGF ligands involved in hard tissue formation, we suggest that FGF18 regulates the development of murine tooth roots.
