Purpose: This study was designed to investigate risk factors for the development of cytomegalovirus (CMV) corneal endotheliitis following corneal transplantation.
Methods: We retrospectively analysed 1225 corneal transplants for bullous keratopathy between 2011 and 2021. 31 cases who were administered the treatment of CMV corneal endotheliitis preoperatively were excluded, and 1194 cases were analysed for risk factors for the development of CMV corneal endotheliitis following corneal transplantation.
Background: There are currently few appropriate instruments for assessing nutrition care competencies in clinical practice. This study aimed to develop a perceived nutrition care competencies (PNCC) scale for dietetic students and test its validity. Factors that influence PNCC scores were examined through a cross-sectional study.

However, its impact on the survival of patients with colorectal liver metastases (CRLMs) remains unclear. This study investigated the impact of ADP expression on long-term survival following hepatectomy in patients with CRLM.

Identification of the Bcc species is important to understand clinical outcomes in human patients. However, there are few studies of Bcc species infecting companion animals such as cats.

Methods: The subjects were 639 children who underwent a health checkup in four cities and towns in Kyoto Prefecture from January to November 2019. The children's parents answered questionnaires about weekday childcare places, the birth order, and the awareness of reducing the salt intake.
Transgenic chicken bioreactors can efficiently produce egg whites containing large quantities of recombinant proteins. We previously developed transgenic chickens that produce recombinant monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) against epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2). However, the practical applications of mAbs derived from transgenic eggs have not yet been examined.

Therefore, this study investigated the impact of TTF-1 and its adverse events on PFS during pembrolizumab plus pemetrexed and platinum chemotherapy for NS-NSCLC. Patients who received the pembrolizumab plus pemetrexed and platinum chemotherapy from 1/1/2018 to 12/31/2022 and whose TTF-1 expression was measured were included in the study.

Objective: We developed and validated an accurate and simple prognostic scoring system for hip fractures that can be used preoperatively.
Design: Retrospective study.
Introduction: spp. are a public health concern, yet there is still no effective vaccine or medicine available.
Methods: Here, we developed a -specific antibody and found that it targeted a menaquinol cytochrome reductase complex QcrC.

Fish skin plays an important role in defending against pathogens in water, primarily through the secretion of skin mucus containing various immune-related factors. Local immune responses in the skin activate systemic immune responses by inflammatory cytokines. However, it remains unclear whether immune responses in the skin occur after systemic immune responses caused by pathogen invasion into the fish body.

Study Design: Retrospective cohort study.
Potassium-ion batteries (KIBs) can offer high energy density, cyclability, and operational safety while being economical due to the natural abundance of potassium. Utilizing graphite as an anode, suitable cathodes can realize full cells. Searching for potential cathodes, this work introduces P3-type KNiMnO layered oxide as a potential candidate synthesized by a simple solid-state method.

Of the proteins analyzed in COVID-19, approximately 70% were detected with Bonferroni-corrected significant differences in comparison with disease severity, clinical outcome, long-term hospitalization, and disease progression and recovery. Specifically, IP-10, sTNF-R1, sTNF-R2, sCD30, sCD163, HGF, SCYB16, IL-16, MIG, SDF-1, and fractalkine were found to be major components of the COVID-19 cytokine storm.

The Ministry of Health, Labour, and Welfare has partially revised the Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Law and established legislations on permanent online medication instructions. Based on these social needs, the development of human resources to provide online medication instructions is vital.

Methods: We used data from the baseline survey (2011-2016) of the Japan Public Health Center-based Prospective Study for the Next Generation Cohort, which included 114,105 participants aged 40-74 years. Adjusted prevalence ratios (aPRs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were calculated from the prevalence of present and past histories of CVD and other lifestyle-related diseases, including hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, and gout, by birth weight, using Poisson regression.

Background/aim: Advanced glycation end products (AGEs) accumulate in the body with increasing age. However, their excessive accumulation may lead to various inflammatory and chronic diseases. While it is common for older adults to experience various comorbidities, there is a scarcity of published literature documenting the specific impact of ageing and comorbidities on AGEs in this population.

The AH SDS increased with negative prepubertal height SDS and decreased with positive prepubertal height SDS, showing that a greater amount of change was associated with a greater interval of the prepubertal height SDS from the mean. The proportions of individuals who achieved normal AH stratified by prepubertal height SDS were as follows: 67.

The first aim of this study was to investigate the factors of decreased walking ability after hip fracture based on whether walking ability was or was not maintained postoperatively. The second aim was to examine the usefulness of the Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment 7 (CGA7), modified from the conventional Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment, for predicting postoperative walking ability.
