Purpose: This study was designed to investigate risk factors for the development of cytomegalovirus (CMV) corneal endotheliitis following corneal transplantation.

Methods: We retrospectively analysed 1225 corneal transplants for bullous keratopathy between 2011 and 2021. 31 cases who were administered the treatment of CMV corneal endotheliitis preoperatively were excluded, and 1194 cases were analysed for risk factors for the development of CMV corneal endotheliitis following corneal transplantation.

Effect of the thyroid transcription factor 1 expression and treatment discontinuation due to adverse events on progression-free survival in patients with advanced non-squamous non-small cell lung cancer treated with pembrolizumab plus pemetrexed and platinum chemotherapy: a Japanese four-hospital, retrospective study.

Therefore, this study investigated the impact of TTF-1 and its adverse events on PFS during pembrolizumab plus pemetrexed and platinum chemotherapy for NS-NSCLC. Patients who received the pembrolizumab plus pemetrexed and platinum chemotherapy from 1/1/2018 to 12/31/2022 and whose TTF-1 expression was measured were included in the study.

Potential marker subset of blood-circulating cytokines on hematopoietic progenitor-to-Th1 pathway in COVID-19.

In this study, we analyzed a relatively large subset of proteins, including 109 kinds of blood-circulating cytokines, and precisely described a cytokine storm in the expression level and the range of fluctuations during hospitalization for COVID-19. Of the proteins analyzed in COVID-19, approximately 70% were detected with Bonferroni-corrected significant differences in comparison with disease severity, clinical outcome, long-term hospitalization, and disease progression and recovery. Specifically, IP-10, sTNF-R1, sTNF-R2, sCD30, sCD163, HGF, SCYB16, IL-16, MIG, SDF-1, and fractalkine were found to be major components of the COVID-19 cytokine storm.

Based on these social needs, the development of human resources to provide online medication instructions is vital.

Association Between Birth Weight and Prevalence of Cardiovascular Disease and Other Lifestyle-related Diseases Among the Japanese Population: The JPHC-NEXT Study.

Background: An association between birth weight and cardiovascular disease (CVD) in adulthood has been observed in many countries; however, only a few studies have been conducted in Asian populations.

Methods: We used data from the baseline survey (2011-2016) of the Japan Public Health Center-based Prospective Study for the Next Generation Cohort, which included 114,105 participants aged 40-74 years. Adjusted prevalence ratios (aPRs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were calculated from the prevalence of present and past histories of CVD and other lifestyle-related diseases, including hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, and gout, by birth weight, using Poisson regression.

Using the longitudinal growth data of 13,809 individuals in the Akita Prefecture, the percentage distributions of their adult height (AH) standard deviation scores (SDS) in relation to their prepubertal height SDS were obtained. The AH SDS increased with negative prepubertal height SDS and decreased with positive prepubertal height SDS, showing that a greater amount of change was associated with a greater interval of the prepubertal height SDS from the mean. Aim: Patients with hip fractures have a high rate of mortality or decreased mobility, despite early operative treatment and rehabilitation. The first aim of this study was to investigate the factors of decreased walking ability after hip fracture based on whether walking ability was or was not maintained postoperatively. The second aim was to examine the usefulness of the Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment 7 (CGA7), modified from the conventional Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment, for predicting postoperative walking ability.
