Purpose: In recent years, the concept of oligometastasis, which represents limited metastatic disease, has gained much interest. This study focuses on the oligometastatic recurrence (OLR) of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) after esophagectomy.
Methods: From among 514 patients who underwent curative resection for ESCC at our hospital between April 2005 and December 2019, 97 patients with recurrence were enrolled in this study.
Purpose: Sivelestat, a selective inhibitor of neutrophil elastase, has been reported to reduce acute lung injury associated with systemic inflammatory response syndrome. This study retrospectively investigated the effect of sivelestat on respiratory function in patients who underwent esophagectomy.
Methods: Patients who underwent esophagectomy for thoracic esophageal cancer between 2005 and 2010 were included in this study.
Background/aim: The expression of Wingless/int-1 (Wnt)-induced secreted protein-1 (WISP-1/CCN4), a member of the Cyr61-CTGF-Nov (CCN) family, has been examined in several types of cancer. However, the correlation between the WISP-1 expression and the clinical features of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) remain to be elucidated.
