Remimazolam Anesthesia for a Pediatric Patient With Glutaric Aciduria Type I: A Case Report.

Glutaric aciduria type I (GA-1) is a rare metabolic disorder caused by an autosomal, recessive, inherited deficiency of glutaryl-CoA dehydrogenase. Reports on the anesthetic management of patients with GA-1 are limited. It has been suggested that inhalation anesthesia is safer than propofol due to the mitochondrial dysfunction inherent in GA-1.

Impact of Protein Intake after Intensive Care Unit on Discharge Destination for Critically Ill Patients: A Single-Center Prospective Observational Study.

Introduction: Although nutritional therapy may be able to enable intensive care unit (ICU) survivors to return home instead of being discharged to a rehabilitation facility, post-ICU discharge nutritional therapy lacks investigation. This study evaluated the impact of nutritional therapy after ICU on discharge destination in critically ill patients.

Methods: We enrolled consecutive adult patients who spent >72 h in the ICU from December 2020 to March 2023.

Bleeding sites and treatment strategies for cardiac tamponade by catheter ablation requiring thoracotomy: risks of catheter ablation in patients with left atrial diverticulum.

Background: There is insufficient information regarding the bleeding sites and surgical strategies of cardiac tamponade during catheter ablation for atrial fibrillation (AF).

Case Presentation: Of the five patients with cardiac tamponade, three required surgical intervention and two required pericardiocentesis. In the first case of three cardiac tamponades requiring surgical intervention, considering that the peripheral route was used, the catecholamines did not reach the heart, and due to unstable vital signs, venoarterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (VA-ECMO) was inserted.

Total arch replacement for an aortic arch aneurysm with cold agglutinin disease after rituximab and plasmapheresis.

Background: Cold agglutinin disease can lead to significant complications, especially for patients undergoing arch repair requiring hypothermic circulatory arrest. Rituximab and plasmapheresis are treatments for cold agglutinin disease. However, its use in patients with Stanford type A dissection has not been reported.

Aortobronchial fistula after Bentall procedure treated with elective arch replacement: A case report.

Aortobronchial fistula often requires emergency surgery as it causes rapidly progressing respiratory failure. Some patients present with recurrent hemoptysis episodes. We report the case of a patient who was saved by elective surgery after aortobronchial fistula following aortic pseudoaneurysm rupture into the lung.
