Benzodiazepine receptor agonists are widely prescribed therapeutic agents, alter gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) receptor function, and have hypnotic, anxiolytic, anticonvulsant, and antispastic effects. GABA receptor activity increases under systemic inflammatory conditions. We investigated the effect of benzodiazepine receptor agonists on pentobarbital-induced loss of righting reflex (LORR) duration using a mouse model of lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced inflammation.

The catalytic activity of a macrocyclic phenanthroline-Cu complex was utilized to thread the two axle components inside the ring. The alkyne compound with chain of 15 or 20 methylene groups gave [3]rotaxanes in high yields, whereas the axle with a chain of six methylene groups afforded a [3]rotaxane in very poor yield.

Enzymatic activity assay, immunocytochemical staining, and reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) analysis of human leukocytes showed that polymorphonuclear leukocytes (PMNs) expressed CYP4F3B and CYP4F12 in addition to CYP4F3. Transcription start site of CYP4F3B mRNA in the leukocytes was identical to that of CYP4F3 mRNA.

The effects of ethanol (EtOH) administration at a high-dose level on the stimulatory action by bradykinin in vascular permeability were examined in rats, as compared with the effects of histamine and hyaluronidase. Oral administration (7.5 g/kg) and intraperitoneal injection (5 g/kg) of EtOH markedly potentiated the vascular permeability accelerated by bradykinin, but they suppressed in reverse such effects induced by histamine and hyaluronidase.
