Optimization of dose-dense methotrexate, vinblastine, doxorubicin, and cisplatin therapy for Japanese patients with urothelial carcinoma.

Background: Dose-dense methotrexate, vinblastine, doxorubicin, and cisplatin (dd-MVAC) regimen has been established as a systemic chemotherapy for patients with urothelial carcinoma. However, it is rarely used in Japan owing to the challenges associated with managing the related adverse events. This study aimed to optimize the dd-MVAC protocol for Japanese patients.

Removal of obstructive organized tracheo-bronchial clots under respiratory support using veno-venous extracorporeal membrane oxygenation in a patient with blunt thoracic trauma: a case report.

Background: It has been reported that veno-venous extracorporeal membrane oxygenation is useful for treating patients with acute respiratory failure following severe thoracic trauma. However, the removal of an obstructive organized tracheo-bronchial clot under respiratory support using extracorporeal membrane oxygenation in a patient with trauma has never been reported.

Case Presentation: A teenage female was injured in a fall and experienced right open hemopneumothorax and bilateral lung contusions.

Safe administration of ipilimumab plus nivolumab to a dialysis patient with renal cell carcinoma.

Introduction: The combination of ipilimumab plus nivolumab has been used as first-line therapy for metastatic renal cell carcinoma. While it is well known that hemodialysis patients have a higher rate of renal cell carcinoma compared to the general population, no reports have described the safety of ipilimumab-nivolumab in metastatic renal cell carcinoma patients on hemodialysis.

Case Presentation: A 73-year-old man with a 21-year history of dialysis was referred to our department in 2019 for bilateral renal tumors and multiple lung nodules.

Orthogonal aperture multiplexing for multilayered waveguide holographic read-only memories.

A multilayered waveguide holographic read-only memory is a promising candidate for the next generation of optical data storage systems. We improved the data density of the memory by using a multiplexing method with a set of orthogonal optical masks. We multiplexed as many as nine images into one waveguide hologram, and all the observed images had negligible cross talk.
