Long-term studies have indicated that alloplastic bone grafts composed of nonresorbable hydroxyapatite (NHA) are clinically stable and safe. However, our previous report suggested that NHA grafts may be an etiological factor for recurrent periodontitis in the absence of supportive periodontal treatment (SPT).
