Minimally invasive therapies are increasingly in demand for organ-confined prostate tumors. Electrochemical therapy (EChT) is attractive, as it relies on locally-induced reduction-oxidation reactions to kill tumor cells. Its efficacy for prostate cancer was assessed in human PC-3 and LNCaP tumor xenografts growing subcutaneously in nude mice (n = 80) by applying 2 Stainless Steel vs.

We explore noninvasive clinical applications of multiple disease-specific fusion markers recently discovered in prostate cancer to predict the risk of cancer occurrence and aggressiveness at diagnosis. A total of 92 men who were prostate-specific antigen (PSA) screened and scheduled for diagnostic biopsy were enrolled for this study. Prospectively collected urine was blind coded for laboratory tests.

Purpose: The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) and The American Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) general objectives mandate that all residents be competent to independently perform select surgical procedures. Unfortunately, no objective standardized measures presently exist for surgical training assessment. Operative logs have been implemented to quantify the number of cases the resident has been exposed to, however, these do not assess their degree of involvement or aptitude.

Exclusion criteria include: the presence of neoplasia, previous ureterial or renal surgery, calculous disease, tuberculosis, schistosomiasis, retroperitoneal fibrosis radiation and extrinsic compression.

The multiplicity of bladder diverticula is well documented, yet review of the literature revealed only one reported case of cancer occurring in more than one diverticulum. To our knowledge, we report on the first long-term follow-up of a remaining bladder diverticulum after partial cystectomy for a transitional cell carcinoma in a contralateral diverticulum. The case report suggests that conservative management may be preferred for bladder diverticula not involved with tumor and routine prophylactic diverticulectomy may not be necessary.
