Increased anxiety stemming from earthquakes may prompt individuals to turn to spirituality as a coping mechanism, with spiritual transcendence believed to be an effective way to mitigate anxiety. In this study, Bali, which has a Far Eastern spiritual tradition, and Türkiye, the majority of whose population is Muslim, are discussed comparatively.

Melatonin is a powerful endogenous antioxidant hormone. Its healing effects on energy balance and neuronal damage associated with oxidative metabolism disorders have been reported in pathologic conditions. We aimed to determinate the utility of melatonin on neuronal damage, synaptic transmission, and energy balance in the brain tissue of rats with sepsis induced with LPS.

The effect of starch types on extensional, linear and nonlinear rheological properties of starch cracker dough.

Cracker is a popular snack, and their quality depends on the rheological properties of the dough during production. This study focused on the impact of different starch types (tapioca, corn, and potato) used in the same amount (30 g) on the rheology of starch cracker dough. Various rheological tests were conducted to assess the dough's properties.

Determination of trace elements and electrolyte levels in kidney tissue of simvastatin-treated septic rats.

Trace elements are cofactors in various enzymes in the antioxidant defense and cell homeostasis required in the tissue during inflammation. In acute kidney injury induced by lipopolysaccharide (LPS), renal cells are affected by cytotoxicity. Renal evacuation and gastrointestinal absorption rates are important in regulating plasma levels of trace elements.

The influence of cement kiln dust on strength and durability properties of cement-based systems.

There are very few studies in the literature on the usage of CKD in cementitious systems. This article presents the laboratory study results on the influence of cement kiln dust (CKD) on the properties of mortar made with cement kiln dust and Portland cement. The article aims to prevent CKD's (known as a hazardous waste product) damage to nature by utilizing CKD in cementitious systems and contributing to sustainability by reducing cement amount in the cementitious system.

We aimed to investigate the effects of melatonin administered before and during endotoxemia on the lung tissue of rats, cytokine, YKL-40, matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) and inhibitor levels, oxidative stress parameters, and energy balance. Sepsis was induced with lipopolysaccharide (LPS), the cell wall molecule of gram negative bacteria. Rats were divided into four groups, Control, LPS (Escherichia coli O127:B8, 20 mg/kg), melatonin (10 mg/kg), and melatonin+LPS (M+LPS).

Method: The data was collected by an Introductory Information Form, Body Image Scale (PfP) BIS and the Coopersmith Self-Esteem Inventory (SEI) in 120 patients with rheumatoid arthritis and in 120 healthy controls. Background/aim: Metabolic syndrome (MetS) is a clinical condition characterized by central obesity, elevated triglycerides, low-high density lipoproteins, impaired fasting glucose, and hypertension. There is insufficient data on the prevalence of MetS in patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). This study sought to determine the prevalence of MetS in a Turkish cohort of patients with IBD and the association between insulin resistance (IR) and the MetS parameters, in this population.
