This study investigates the feasibility of employing an in-house-developed physical phantom dedicated to the weekly quality control testing of radiographic systems, performed by radiographers. For this purpose, a 3D phantom was fabricated, featuring test objects, including a model representing a lesion. In this pilot usability study, we introduced 3D printed anthropomorphic dental models, specifically designed for the elective discipline "Digital and Metal-Free Techniques in Dental Technology" from the curriculum of the Dental Technician specialty in the Medical University of Varna. Brood diseases and pesticides can reduce the survival of bee larvae, reduce bee populations, and negatively influence ecosystem biodiversity. However, major gaps persist in our knowledge regarding the routes and implications of co-exposure to these stressors in managed and wild bee brood. In this review, we evaluate the likelihood for co-exposure to brood pathogen and pesticide stressors by examining the routes of potential co-exposure and the possibility for pollen and nectar contaminated with pathogens and pesticides to become integrated into brood food.

The Role of the 21-Gene Recurrence Score Assay in Hormone Receptor-Positive, Node-Positive Breast Cancer: The Canadian Experience.

The management of patients with hormone receptor-positive breast cancer has changed dramatically with use of the 21-gene Recurrence Score (RS) Assay. While the utility of the assay was initially demonstrated among node-negative patients, recent studies have also demonstrated the assay's prognostic and predictive value in node-positive patients. In Canada, the RS assay is reimbursed by provincial health insurance plans, but not all provinces have approved the use of the assay for patients with node-positive disease.

 Previously we reported the discovery of stop codon readthrough in mRNA followed by ribosome stalling at the end of a conserved Open Reading Frame (ORF) that we termed . To explain the severe suppression of reporters fused to tail we proposed a mechanism invoking ribosome queueing. In the original study, we tested this hypothesis, by placing the reporter stop codon in the context of readthrough permissive sequences in a dual reporter vector with downstream reporter expression driven by the EMCV IRES.

HLA-Haploidentical Family Donors: The New Promise for Childhood Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia?

Allogeneic haematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) is indicated in children with high-risk, relapsed or refractory acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL). HLA-matched grafts from cord blood and stem cell repositories have allowed patients without suitable sibling donors to undergo HSCT. However, challenges in procuring matched unrelated donor (MUD) grafts due to high cost, ethnic disparity and time constraints have led to the exponential rise in the use of stem cells from human leukocyte antigen (HLA)-haploidentical family donors.

Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is the most aggressive subtype of breast cancer, and is known to be associated with a poor prognosis and limited therapeutic options. Poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase inhibitors (PARPi) are targeted therapeutics that have demonstrated efficacy as monotherapy in metastatic -mutant (BRCA) TNBC patients. Improved efficacy of PARPi has been demonstrated in BRCA breast cancer patients who have either received fewer lines of chemotherapy or in chemotherapy-naïve patients in the metastatic, adjuvant, and neoadjuvant settings.
