Postpartum dysglycaemia after early gestational diabetes: Follow-up of women in the TOBOGM randomised controlled trial.

Aim: To evaluate the incidence and predictors of postpartum dysglycaemia among high-risk women who develop early gestational diabetes (eGDM) prior to 20 weeks' gestation.

Methods: This is a sub-study of the Treatment of Booking Gestational Diabetes (TOBOGM) Study, a randomised controlled trial of early or deferred treatment for women with risk factors for gestational diabetes diagnosed with eGDM, using current WHO criteria. Overt diabetes in pregnancy was excluded.

Indirect effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on risk of gestational diabetes and factors contributing to increased risk in a multiethnic population: a retrospective cohort study.

Background: The COVID-19 pandemic has had indirect effects on pregnancy outcomes. There is limited data on the impact on gestational diabetes (GDM) in diverse populations and the possible underlying mediators. This study aimed to assess the risk of GDM pre-COVID-19 and in two distinct pandemic exposure periods, and to determine the potential factors contributing to increased risk in a multiethnic population.

Dexamethasone-induced hyperglycaemia in COVID-19: Glycaemic profile in patients without diabetes and factors associated with hyperglycaemia.

Aims: To evaluate glycaemic profiles of COVID-19 patients without diabetes receiving dexamethasone and determine factors associated with hyperglycaemia.

Methods: All subjects without pre-existing diabetes receiving dexamethasone 6 mg for COVID-19 in a non-critical care setting were identified. Glucose profiles were obtained from capillary blood glucose (BG).

Clinical and Radiologic Response of Central Giant Cell Granuloma to Denosumab: A 6-Year Prospective Observational Study.

Central giant cell granuloma (CGCG) is a rare lesion of the jaw occurring in young adults and adolescents. Surgery, the traditional mainstay of therapy, is associated with significant morbidity. Denosumab, a humanised monoclonal antibody to RANKL, is effective in a related entity, giant cell tumour of bone (GCTB), but experience in the more indolent CGCG is limited.

Congestive heart failure presence predicts delayed healing of foot ulcers in diabetes: An audit from a multidisciplinary high-risk foot clinic.

Aims: This retrospective study aimed to investigate both established and less well-explored factors as potential predictive variables for failed and delayed ulcer healing.

Methods: Patients with type 1 or 2 diabetes with foot ulceration presenting consecutively to, and then subsequently managed at, a multidisciplinary, high-risk foot clinic were followed until ulcer healing, amputation or death. Data comprised prospective standardised documentation at each visit and retrospective collection from hospital records, and included patient demographics, comorbidities, laboratory variables, and ulcer infection, depth and area at each presentation.

Direct hospital costs of total laparoscopic hysterectomy compared with fast-track open hysterectomy at a tertiary hospital: a retrospective case-controlled study.

Aims: To assess the direct intraoperative and postoperative costs in women undergoing total laparoscopic hysterectomy and fast-track open hysterectomy.

Methods: A retrospective review of the direct hospital-related costs in a matched cohort of women undergoing total laparoscopic hysterectomy (TLH) and fast-track open hysterectomy (FTOH) at a tertiary hospital. All costs were calculated, including the cost of advanced high-energy laparoscopic devices.
