To understand the neural basis of behavior, it is essential to measure spiking dynamics across many interacting brain regions. Although new technologies, such as Neuropixels probes, facilitate multi-regional recordings, significant surgical and procedural hurdles remain for these experiments to achieve their full potential. Here, we describe skull-shaped hemispheric implants enabling large-scale electrophysiology datasets (SHIELD).

Even with experience, researchers often can't be certain that a probe is placed precisely in a target location and this complexity scales with the number of simultaneous probes used in an experiment. Here, we present , open-source software that allows for interactive exploration of stereotaxic insertion plans.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFFluid control remains a challenge in development of portable lab-on-a-chip devices. Here, we show that microfluidic networks driven by single-frequency audio tones create resonant oscillating flow that is predicted by equivalent electrical circuit models. We fabricated microfluidic devices with fluidic resistors (R), inductors (L), and capacitors (C) to create RLC networks with band-pass resonance in the audible frequency range available on portable audio devices.
