Objective: To explore the relationships between gestational hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection, antiviral therapy, and pregnancy outcomes.

Methods: We retrospectively selected hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg)-positive pregnant women hospitalized for delivery at Fujian Medical University Affiliated Hospital from October 1, 2016 to October 1, 2020. The control group included randomly selected healthy pregnant women hospitalized for delivery during the same time.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to create a reliable prediction model for early detection of severe hyperlipidemic acute pancreatitis (HLAP) severity, which is critical for patient management.
  • A total of 225 patients were analyzed to identify key predictors for progression to moderate-severe or severe acute pancreatitis, leading to a predictive nomogram model validated through various statistical methods.
  • The final nomogram showed high accuracy with a Harrell C-index of 0.908 internally and 0.950 externally, indicating it effectively identifies patients at risk of severe progression early on.

Article Synopsis
  • The study focused on developing two early prediction models (unwScore and wScore) to accurately identify patients with severe and moderately severe acute pancreatitis.
  • Clinical data from 469 patients were analyzed to select seven key indicators (like white blood cell count and C-reactive protein) for these models.
  • The new models demonstrated better predictive accuracy than existing systems, establishing an important tool for healthcare providers in managing acute pancreatitis.

Antipyretic acetaminophen (APAP) is a commonly used drug that generally associates with liver injury. (-)-Epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG), an active polyphenol extracted from green tea, is extensively reported to have the potential to impact a variety of human diseases. However, few studies were reported regarding the protective effect of EGCG on APAP-induced liver injury and the mechanism is still unclear.

Background: The therapeutic effect of plasma exchange (PE) on hypertriglyceridemic acute pancreatitis (HTGAP) is unclear. Therefore, we aimed to explore this therapeutic effect.

Study Design And Methods: This study included 204 patients with HTGAP who underwent treatment at two provincial tertiary grade A hospitals in Fujian Province from October 2012 to May 2021.

Objective: To investigate the curative effect of a transnasal ileus tube in the treatment of small bowel obstruction caused by a phytobezoar.

Methods: Seventy-one patients with small bowel obstruction caused by a phytobezoar who underwent treatment in three provincial tertiary grade A hospitals in Fujian Province from March 2011 to February 2020 were included in this study. Patients were divided into the following two groups according to the treatment received: (1) conservative group, comprising patients who received medical conservative treatment, and (2) combined group, including patients who received combined medical conservative treatment and transnasal ileus tube placement.
