The Value of High-Sensitivity C-reactive Protein in Evaluating Myocardial Damage and the Prognosis in Children with Mycoplasmal Pneumonia.

Objective: To investigate the value of high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) in evaluating the myocardial damage and prognosis in children with mycoplasmal pneumonia.

Materials: A total of 150 children with mycoplasmal pneumonia were selected. According to their serum creatine kinase isoenzyme (CK-MB) level, they were divided into 72 cases of the myocardial damage group and 78 cases of the non-myocardial damage group.

Genetic investigation of haemoglobinopathies in a large cohort of asymptomatic individuals reveals a higher carrier rate for β-thalassaemia in Sichuan Province (Southwestern China).

The incidence of haemoglobinopathy is high in China, especially south of the Yangtze River. However, the exact status of haemoglobinopathy in Sichuan is unknown. To carry out a detailed research of haemoglobinopathy in individuals living in Sichuan, 13,298 subjects without clinical symptoms who were living in Sichuan Province, with an age distribution of 5-73 years, were included in this study.

Objective: To construct the recombinant adenovirus expression vector of a short hairpin RNA (shRNA) targeting phosphatase and tensin homolog deleted on chromosome ten (PTEN) gene for gene therapy of ischemic cerebral injury.

Methods: The U6 expression promoter and shRNA of pGenesil-1-shRNA, which was constructed and identified in our previous experiment, were subcloned to pAdTrack shuttle plasmid. The product pAdTrack-U6-shRNA was linearized by PmeI for homologous recombination with pAdEasy-1 in pAdEasy-1 competence bacteria.
