Article Synopsis
  • Multiple myeloma (MM) is a type of blood cancer that's been studied to understand what affects how well patients do over time.
  • Researchers looked at how quickly the disease gets worse (called POD24) and found that if this happens within 2 years, it usually means the patient will have a harder time surviving.
  • They discovered that certain factors, like not having a transplant and having genetic changes, increase the chances of POD24 happening, and current prediction models aren't good enough to accurately forecast it, so they need to come up with better ways to predict this.

Background And Objectives: This study was undertaken to evaluate the status of iodine nutrition and thyroid function of women at different phases of gestation in an iodine sufficient rural area.

Methods And Study Design: 215 pregnant women in different trimesters were consecutively enrolled in iodine sufficient rural areas of Yongjing county of Gansu province, China. The blood samples and random urine samples were collected from them, and serum thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH), free triiodothyronine (FT3), free thyroxin (FT4), thyroid peroxidase antibody (TPOAb), thyroglobulin antibody (TgAb) and urinary iodine were measured.

Au(SG) gold nanoparticles (GNPs) were synthesized from HAuCl using thiol compounds containing an amino group to serve as both the reducing agent and the ligand. A three-dimensional network structure (…Au-SNH→M⟵HNS-Au…) was formed after the M (Pb, Cd, Zn and Ag) coordinated the gold nanoparticles through the amino group in the thiol ligand, which promoted aurophilicity (…Au…Au…) and induced GNP aggregation and emission. The differences in coordination between the amino group and metal ions resulted in different emission wavelengths (Pb, Cd, Zn and Ag: λ = 365 nm˜370 nm, λ = 580, 645, 630 and 565 nm).

Objective: To investigate the water iodine content and distribution of drinking-water in Gansu Province, and provide scientific evidence for the implementation of strategies for prevention and treatment of iodine-related diseases.

Methods: The multilevel sampling method was adopted, take the township as sampling unit at the first level, and the administrative village with the median water iodine ≥10 μg/L as the second level sampling unit, different water supply modes(centralized, partial concentration and decentralized water supply) were sampled and the water iodine were detected by recommended iodine deficiency disease test method.

Results: A total of 8976 drinking water samples were detected from 1388 towns of 14 cities.

Objective: To assess the iodine nutrition and thyroid function of lactatingwomen in different iodine nutrition level of children in Gansu Province, and provide a scientific basis for iodine supplementation.

Methods: Liangzhou district( the median urinary iodine was greater than or equal to 300 g/L), Linze county( the median urinary iodine was from 200 to 299 g/L) and Huating county( the median urinary iodine was from100 to 199 g/L) were selected according to 8-10 years old children urinary iodine in2009. Huating county, Liangzhou district and Linze county were as iodine excessive area, iodine suitable area 1 and iodine suitable area 2, respectively in 2014.
