Article Synopsis
  • Invasive hydatidiform mole is a dangerous growth that can happen in women of reproductive age, and it can lead to serious health problems.
  • A 24-year-old Chinese woman with no previous pregnancies had ongoing bleeding after a medical procedure, and doctors found abnormal growths in her uterus.
  • She was treated with chemotherapy and a special ultrasound technique, which helped improve her condition and showed positive results in follow-up exams.

Background: Due to the incomplete standardization of the etiology and diagnostic criteria for fetal growth restriction (FGR), there has been uncertainty in the early prediction of FGR. The comprehensive estimation of FGR was mainly based on various factors, such as maternal characteristics and medical history, nuchal translucency (NT), and serum biochemical markers [pregnancy-associated plasma protein-A (PAPP-A) and free beta human chorionic gonadotropin (free β-hCG)]. Herein, we performed a retrospective cohort study to investigate the correlation and diagnostic value of maternal markers such as PAPP-A, free β-hCG, and NT in the first trimester with maternal characteristics, so as to provide theoretical basis for perinatal care and the application of low-dose aspirin.

Objective: Mifepristone has been used to treat endometriosis, but it can cause a constellation of endometrial alterations. Our study investigated the effects of long-term mifepristone on ovarian endometriosis.

Methods: We retrospectively analyzed the clinicopathological changes of ovarian endometriosis in 11 Chinese patients after long-term low-dose mifepristone therapy and compared these alterations with those observed in eutopic endometrium and adenomyosis side-by-side.

Introduction: The objective of this study was to systematically review the literature and perform a meta-analysis comparing the clinical outcomes of telehealth and usual care in the management of diabetes.

Methods: Multiple strategies, including database searches (MEDLINE, PsycINFO, PubMed, EMBASE, and CINAHL), searches of related journals and reference tracking, were employed to widely search publications from January 2005 to December 2017. The change in hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) levels was assessed as the primary outcome, and changes in blood pressure, blood lipids, body mass index (BMI), and quality of life were examined as secondary outcomes.

Article Synopsis
  • A study compared two treatment methods for calcaneal fractures: open reduction internal fixation (surgery) alone versus a combination of open reduction internal fixation and conservative treatment.
  • The group receiving the combined treatment showed better healing indicators and improved daily life activities after 6 months, but no significant differences in long-term healing rates were found.
  • The findings suggest that using open reduction internal fixation along with conservative treatment is the preferred method for quicker recovery and better functional outcomes in patients with calcaneal fractures.

Objective: To evaluate the morphology and proliferation of follicles from cryopreserved human ovarian tissue by vitrification.

Methods: Ovarian biopsy specimens were taken from 12 patients. The specimens were randomly distributed into fresh group (Group A) and vitrification group (Group B).

Objective: To study the effects of 50-Hz extremely low frequency electromagnetic field (ELF-EMF) exposure on the pH of the adult male semen and the motoricity and motoricity parameters of spermatozoa.

Methods: Healthy adult male fresh semen was exposed to a 50-Hz EMF at 0.4 mT for 15, 30 and 60 min, respectively.

Objective: Nanog is overexpressed in embryonic stem cells for cell self-renewal and differentiation. We investigated whether the Nanog expression is associated with the occurrence and development of ovarian cancer.

Methods: Immunohistochemistry was used to examine the expression of Nanog in 43 normal ovarian epithelia, 110 serous cystadenomas, 80 borderline serous cystadenomas, and 107 serous cystadenocarcinomas.

The effects of exposure to a sinusoidal 50-Hz magnetic field (MF) and an incoherent (noise) MF on hormone secretion in human first trimester villous trophoblasts were investigated. Trophoblasts were isolated from more than 30 first trimester human chorionic villi of 8-10 weeks gestation. They were cultured and exposed to MFs for different durations.

Evidence from epidemiological and animal studies showed that exposure to extremely low frequency magnetic fields (ELF-MF) could produce deleterious effects on reproduction. In order to investigate the possible mechanism of MF exposure on reproductive effects, first trimester human chorionic villi at 8-10 weeks' gestation were obtained, and trophoblasts were isolated, cultured, and exposed to a 50-Hz MF for different durations. The human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) and progesterone in the culture medium was measured by electrochemiluminescence immunoassay.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to assess how superovulation using the GnRHa protocol and PMSG affects the expression of estrogen and progesterone receptors, as well as leukemia inhibitory factor (LIF) mRNA in the endometrium of ICR mice.
  • Researchers divided 45 female mice into three groups: one treated with GnRHa and PMSG, one with PMSG only, and a control group receiving saline, then analyzed endometrial samples for receptor and mRNA expression.
  • Results indicated that both treatment groups (GnRHa+PMSG and PMSG) had significantly lower receptor and LIF mRNA expression compared to the natural cycle group, suggesting that GnRHa may negatively affect endometrial receptivity,

Objective: To explore the effects of 50 Hz sinusoidal magnetic fields (MF) on secretion function of primary human villous trophoblasts in vitro, and the interference effect of "noise" MF.

Methods: The trophoblasts were isolated from human villus by trypsin digestion and incubated in DMEM medium. Then the trophoblasts were exposed to 0.

Objective: To study apoptosis-related gene expression of human villous trophoblasts exposed to 50 Hz magnetic field and to investigate the possible mechanism of human reproductive health effects caused by 50 Hz magnetic field.

Methods: Cultured human villous trophoblasts were exposed to 50 Hz magnetic field at 0.4 mT for 6, 48, 72 hours.

We investigated whether GABA activates phospholipase A2 (PLA2) during acrosomal exocytosis, and if the MEK-ERK1/2 pathway modulates PLA2 activation initiated by GABA, progesterone or zona pellucida (ZP). In guinea pig spermatozoa prelabelled with [14C]arachidonic acid or [14C]choline chloride, GABA stimulated a decrease in phosphatidylcholine (PC), and release of arachidonic acid and lysoPC, during exocytosis. These lipid changes are indicative of PLA2 activation and appear essential for exocytosis since inclusion of aristolochic acid (a PLA2 inhibitor) abrogated them, along with exocytosis.
