Article Synopsis
  • Researchers tackled issues with solid polymer electrolytes (SPEs) by synthesizing di-block copolymers using materials like carbon dioxide, epichlorohydrin, caprolactone, and phthalic anhydride.
  • The resulting copolymers feature high electrochemical stability and improved ion conductivity, enhanced further by adding succinonitrile as a plasticizer.
  • The lithium metal batteries created with these electrolytes demonstrated strong performance metrics, including a discharge-specific capacity retention of 90.5% after 270 cycles, highlighting the potential for better battery designs.

Purpose: To discuss the treatment of external auditory canal stenosis or atresia occurring as a complication of transcanal endoscopic ear surgery.

Materials And Methods: We retrospectively analyzed the medical records of 11 patients who developed external auditory canal stenosis or atresia after undergoing transcanal endoscopic ear surgery. The 10 patients with stenosis were treated with external auditory canal expansion via drainage tube insertion; 2 of these patients further received local injections of triamcinolone acetonide.

Background: Transcanal endoscopic surgery offers advantages for congenital cholesteatoma (CC) which is expanding cystic mass located on an intact tympanic membrane.

Objectives: To determine the efficacy of transcanal endoscopic ear surgery for the treatment of CC.

Material And Methods: Eleven patients with CC confined to the middle ear underwent transcanal endoscopic ear surgery by surgeons who were skilled in otoscopic surgery.

Objective: It remains elusive which factors may influence the morbidity and mortality of lung metastasis (LM) in Laryngeal Squamous Cell Carcinoma (LSCC) patients. The aim of the present study was to investigate factors influencing LM and the survival outcomes of LSCC patients with LM.

Methods: We identified 10,935 patients with LSCC from 2010 to 2014 using the Surveillance, Epidemiology and End Results database.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to analyze the gene expression profiles in nasal polyps using gene chip technology to understand their role in the disease's development.
  • RNA was extracted from nasal tissues and hybridized with gene chips to identify differently expressed genes, revealing 1887 genes with variations, including 1099 upregulated and 788 downregulated genes.
  • The findings suggest that nasal polyps involve multiple genes, particularly those related to immune response and growth factors, indicating these genes could be key players in the disease's pathogenesis.
