Aim: To develop a deep learning-based model for automatic retinal vascular segmentation, analyzing and comparing parameters under diverse glucose metabolic status (normal, prediabetes, diabetes) and to assess the potential of artificial intelligence (AI) in image segmentation and retinal vascular parameters for predicting prediabetes and diabetes.

Methods: Retinal fundus photos from 200 normal individuals, 200 prediabetic patients, and 200 diabetic patients (600 eyes in total) were used. The U-Net network served as the foundational architecture for retinal artery-vein segmentation.

P91 steel and P91 steel joints experience performance degradation after serving for 30,000 h in working conditions. To clarify the damage and failure behavior and remaining life of the joints during subsequent service, further creep testing was conducted on the welded joints of P91 steel that had been in service for 30,000 h at three temperatures: 550 °C, 575 °C, and 600 °C. The fracture surface and the cross-section damage behavior were characterized by SEM and EBSD methods.

Calcium (Ca) dysregulation contributes to various vascular diseases, but the role and underlying mechanism of stromal interaction molecule-1 (STIM1) in Ca signaling and vasocontraction remain elusive. By using smooth muscle-specific STIM1 knockout (sm-STIM1 KO) mice and a multi myograph system, we investigated the differential role of STIM1 in Ca handling between coronary and intrarenal arterial smooth muscles. After STIM1 deletion, contractile responses to 5-HT were obviously reduced in coronary and intrarenal arteries in the sm-STIM1 KO mice, but not altered in U46619.
