Autogenous Bilateral Cleft Alveolar Bone Grafting with rhBMP-2 and Cellular Bone Matrix.

Alveolar bone grafting (ABG) in bilateral cleft lip and palate (BCLP) patients provides a reconstructive challenge. We present a novel technique of combining autologous iliac crest bone graft (ICBG) with recombinant human bone morphogenic protein 2 (rhBMP-2) and cellular bone matrix (CBM) for ABG in BCLP patients. Complete bone fill occurred in 90% of patients, with 100% having bilateral canine eruption.

Nearly Perfect Durable Superhydrophobic Surfaces Fabricated by a Simple One-Step Plasma Treatment.

Fabrication of superhydrophobic surfaces is an area of great interest because it can be applicable to various engineering fields. A simple, safe and inexpensive fabrication process is required to fabricate applicable superhydrophobic surfaces. In this study, we developed a facile fabrication method of nearly perfect superhydrophobic surfaces through plasma treatment with argon and oxygen gases.

Patient with Pfeiffer's syndrome treated by midfacial distraction and comprehensive orthodontics.

Treatment for patients with craniofacial anomalies always presents a great challenge to orthodontists. Treatment usually requires both comprehensive orthodontic treatment and orthognathic surgery. In this article, we report on a patient with Pfeiffer's syndrome treated by midfacial distraction and comprehensive orthodontics.

Tooth positioner effects on occlusal contacts and treatment outcomes.

Objective: To determine if an increase in tooth contacts is the principal effect of tooth positioner wear.

Materials And Methods: Patient charts from a consecutive series were reviewed until a sample of 100 cases that used a tooth positioner was obtained. One hundred control cases were randomly selected from patients treated at the same period.
