Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is an autoimmune disease that affects many organs, but multisystem dysfunction is rare. Here, we report a case of a 29-year-old woman who was initially diagnosed with SLE complications including lupus nephritis, lupus encephalopathy, renal hypertension, thrombocytopenia, anaemia and hyperkalaemia. She recovered following treatment with high dose methylprednisolone, intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) and continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT).

Introduction: Sigma metrics were applied to evaluate the performance of 20 routine chemistry assays, and individual quality control criteria were established based on the sigma values of different assays.

Methods: Precisions were expressed as the average coefficient variations (CVs) of long-term two-level chemistry controls. The biases of the 20 assays were obtained from the results of trueness programs organized by National Center for Clinical Laboratories (NCCL, China) in 2016.

The number of studies reporting lymphoma as a secondary tumor has gradually increased. However, few studies have reported that occurrence of lymphoma as a secondary tumor following treatment for penile carcinoma, particularly cases in which the lymphoma was diagnosed by fine-needle aspiration cytology and flow cytometry. The present study reports the case of a 62-year-old male patient who was troubled with frequent urination and repeated chest tightness for 5 years.

The present study examined the effects of N,N'‑di‑(m‑methylphenyi)‑3, 6‑dimethyl‑1, 4‑dihydro‑1,2,4,5‑tetrazine‑1,4‑dicarboamide (ZGDHu‑1), a novel oxazine derivative, in Kasumi‑1 cells. Following incubation with various concentrations of ZGDHu‑1, fluorescence‑activated cell sorting (FACS) was used in order to detect changes in mitochondrial membrane permeability in Kasumi‑1 cells. Western blot analysis was performed in order to analyze the expression of nuclear factor‑κB, inhibitor of κB and AML1/ETO.

Chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) is a low-grade lymphoid malignancy incurable with conventional modalities of chemotherapy. We aimed to examine the proapoptotic effects of a novel proteasome inhibitor, N,N'-di-(m-methylphenyi)-3,6- dimethyl-1,4-dihydro-1,2,4,5-tetrazine-1,4-dicarboamide (ZGDHu-1), on CLL cells. B lymphocytes were isolated from CLL patients and normal healthy controls, and treated with various concentrations of ZGDHu-1 for different days.

Objective: To investigate the effect of early enteral nutrition (EEN) supplemented with glutamine on postoperative intestinal mucosal barrier function of patients with gastric carcinoma.

Methods: Eighty patients with gastric carcinoma who underwent intraoperative peritoneal hyperthermic chemotherapy(IPHC) were randomized into two groups: EEN+glutamine (EEN+Gln) group(n=40) and EEN group(n=40). Intestinal mucosal barrier function was evaluated by serum diamine oxidase (DAO), ratio of lactulose to mannitol(L/M), endotoxin lipopolysaccharides(LPS), and tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α) at 1 day before operation, 1 day, 7 days, 12 days after operation.

Objective: To investigate the effects of the self-developed anti-heparanase polypeptide antibodies on growth and invasion of human hepatocellular carcinoma HCCLM6 cells.

Methods: Using MTT, flow cytometry, plate clone formation, transwell invasion and heparan degrading enzyme assay, the growth and invasion changes of human hepatocellular carcinoma HCCLM6 cells by co-culture with each of three self-developed rabbit anti-heparanase polyclonal antibodies were detected.

Results: Compared with normal rabbit IgG, in the presence of each anti-heparanase polypeptide antibody, the growth, cell cycle and clone formation remained unchanged, and under the P1 or P2 anti-heparanase polypeptide antibody (with final concentration 100 microg/ml), the cell invasiveness was inhibited by 52.
