Article Synopsis
- The study aimed to assess the current state of physician assistants (PAs) in 114 surgical residency hospitals by surveying their working conditions, training, and satisfaction levels.
- Out of 192 participating PAs, the roles they filled varied widely (e.g., Surgical Assistant, Clinical Physician Assistant), but there were significant discrepancies in job descriptions and responsibilities across hospitals.
- Findings revealed low satisfaction rates among PAs (29.1%) and physicians towards PAs (15%), suggesting that legalizing and standardizing PA roles could improve job satisfaction and overall quality of care provided.
