Statin exposure and risk of colorectal cancer in patients with inflammatory bowel disease: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

Background: While epidemiological studies have linked statin use to a reduced risk of advanced colorectal adenomas, its impact on colorectal cancer (CRC) risk in patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) remains unclear. To our knowledge, no meta-analysis to date has specifically examined this association. Therefore, we conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis of the available observational studies to investigate the risk of CRC associated with statin use in IBD patients.

Antidepressant use and the risk of seizure: a meta-analysis of observational studies.

Purpose: The association between antidepressant use and the risk of seizures remains controversial. Therefore, this meta-analysis examined whether antidepressant use affects the risk of seizures.

Methods: To identify relevant observational studies, we conducted systematic searches in PubMed and Embase of studies published through May 2023.

Background: Evidence suggests that there is an increased risk of stroke after herpes zoster (HZ). However, reports on the effects of HZ vaccination (HZV) and antiviral treatment on stroke risk are inconsistent. Thus, we examined these associations in a meta-analysis.

How older adults and their informal carers prevent falls: An integrative review of the literature.

Unlabelled: Falls in older persons are prevalent and costly for the individual and the health system. Falls prevention guidelines have been developed from best evidence to minimise falls in older persons.

Aim: To synthesise the literature on falls prevention strategies used by community dwelling older persons and/or their informal carers and to compare the commonly adopted strategies with those recommended by falls prevention guidelines.
