Bisphenol A (BPA), an endocrine disruptor, is linked to cancer progression in estrogen-responsive tissues, but its role in promoting colorectal cancer (CRC) progression in the context of obesity remains underexplored. This study examines BPA's influence on CRC in obese Sprague-Dawley rats using network toxicology and experimental models. Computational analysis using the Database for Annotation, Visualization, and Integrated Discovery identified pathways such as "CRC" and "chemical carcinogenesis-receptor activation", implicating the PI3K-AKT pathway in IL-1 beta upregulation and BPA's role in CRC during obesity.

Multifunctional pH-responsive films were fabricated via layer-by-layer deposition of gelatin, chitosan, and carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC), incorporating selenium nanoparticles (SeNPs) and beetroot extract (BTE), to monitor and preserve beef freshness. SeNPs were synthesized and characterized via various techniques. BTE exhibited promising functional properties, and films demonstrated a significant color transition from red to yellow across pH 2-14.

This study examined the diversity and responses of intestinal microbiota in hybrid grouper ( ♀ × ♂) fed diets with varying levels of fishmeal replaced by black soldier fly larvae (BSFL). The 10% BSFL substitution (BSFL10) group showed the highest levels of trypsin and amylase. Substituting fishmeal with 30% and 50% BSFL weakened the intestinal wall, resulting in vacuoles, sparse striatal boundaries, and fewer villi.

This study aims to develop and validate a Glaucoma Health Score (GHS) that incorporates multiple individual glaucoma risk factors to enhance glaucoma detection in screening environments. The GHS was developed using a retrospective dataset from two clinical sites, including both eyes of glaucoma patients and controls. The decline in dengue incidence and/or prevalence during the COVID-19 pandemic (2020-22) appears to be attributed to reduced treatment-seeking rates, under-reporting, misdiagnosis, disrupted health services and reduced exposure to mosquito vectors due to prevailing lockdowns. There is limited scientific data on dengue virus (DENV) disease during the COVID-19 pandemic.
