A rare case of a mother with gestational diabetes complicated with fulminant type 1 diabetes mellitus post-delivery.

Fulminant type 1 diabetes mellitus (FT1DM) is recognised as a novel subtype of type 1 diabetes mellitus characterised by the abrupt onset of insulin-deficient hyperglycaemia and ketoacidosis. Fulminant type 1 diabetes mellitus is known to be associated with pregnancy and had been associated with high fetal mortality. We report a case of a gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) mother complicated with FT1DM immediately post-delivery.

The Perilous PPI: Proton Pump Inhibitor as a Cause of Clinically Significant Hypomagnesaemia.

Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) are the mainstay of therapy for all gastric acid related diseases and are commonly used in current clinical practice. Although widely regarded as safe, PPIs have been associated with a variety of adverse effects, including hypomagnesaemia. The postulated mechanism of PPI-related hypomagnesaemia involves inhibition of intestinal magnesium absorption via transient receptor potential melastin (TRPM) 6 and 7 cation channels.

Hyperandrogenism caused by ovarian Leydig cell tumour: finding the needle in a haystack.

Leydig cell tumours (LCTs) of the ovary are rare ovarian tumours that usually present with hyperandrogenism. Conventional radiological imagings are helpful in localising these tumours. However, some tumours may be too small to be localised before curative surgical removal.
