The draft genome sequence of strain INACH3013, a psychrotrophic bacterium isolated from Northwest Antarctic soil, was reported. The genome sequence totaling 9,306,785 bp resulted from 122 contigs characterized by a GC content of 70.55%.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFLong-COVID is a postviral illness that can affect survivors of COVID-19, regardless of initial disease severity or age. Symptoms of long-COVID include fatigue, dyspnea, gastrointestinal and cardiac problems, cognitive impairments, myalgia, and others. While the possible causes of long-COVID include long-term tissue damage, viral persistence, and chronic inflammation, the review proposes, perhaps for the first time, that persistent brainstem dysfunction may also be involved.

We investigated the correlation between elevated serum carbohydrate antigen (CA) 19-9 levels and NTM-PD disease activity, defined using an imaging severity score based on chest computed tomography (CT). We retrospectively examined 79 patients with NTM-PD who underwent serum CA19-9 level assessments and chest CT less than 1 month apart.

Meanwhile, rush immunotherapy (RIT) shortens the required duration for the build-up phase, thereby improving the therapy's convenience compared with conventional immunotherapy (CIT). However, RIT is often performed with modified allergens.

However, accumulating evidence has indicated the risk of pneumonia from the use of ICS. This study aimed to investigate the association between ICS and pneumonia in the real-world clinical setting.

This study aimed to assess the efficacy and safety of direct switch from once-daily tiotropium (TIO) 18 μg to indacaterol/glycopyrronium (IND/GLY) 110/50 μg once-daily in COPD patients in Korea.
Methods: This was a randomized, open-label, parallel group, 12-week trial in mild-to-moderate COPD patients who received TIO 18 μg once-daily for ≥12 weeks prior to study initiation.
Aims: To determine the prevalence, characteristics of EM activities, the relationship between level of activity and mode of ventilation and adherence rate of EM protocol.
Background: Mobilizing ICU patients remains a challenge, despite its safety, feasibility and positive short-term outcomes.
Design: A cross-sectional point prevalence study.
Primary effusion lymphoma (PEL) is a B-cell non-Hodgkin's lymphoma that is usually characterized by lymphomatous effusions in the body cavity without any detectable tumor masses. According to the World Health Organization (WHO) schema for tumor classification, PEL is defined by the presence of human herpesvirus 8 (HHV8) in malignant lymphoid cells. However, a subset of effusion-based B-cell lymphoma is not HHV8-positive and exhibits different clinicopathological characteristics.

Typically, anti- and de-icing heating systems employ carbon-based materials, metal frames, and bulky ceramic structures. These structures generally lead to the loss of radio-frequency (RF) signals and are also relatively heavy.

It improves the learning curve of the learners and helps them to avoid making mistakes on real patients. This study aimed to evaluate the educational efficiency for tracheal intubation by comparing Macintosh (direct) laryngoscope (DL) and video laryngoscope (VL) learning in novices.

Type III CP/CPPS is the most complex and controversial of all types of prostatitis, the highest incidence rate, uncertain efficacy, the long-term treatment that affects the patient's psychopathic symptoms, increases the psychological burden of patients. Psychological intervention for patients with CP/CPPS, which is difficult to treat with drugs and physics, can effectively improve clinical efficacy and improve the psychological condition.

Therefore, the objective of this study is to determine the frequency of acute neurological complications following primary TOF repair and to identify the peri-operative risk factors and predictors for the neurological sequelae.
Methods: A retrospective review of the medical and surgical notes of 68 patients who underwent TOF repair in Hospital Serdang, from January 2013 to December 2017 was done.
A systematic procedure for the determination of purity values of amino acid reference materials was developed by use of mass balance method where four categories of impurities (related structure impurities (RSIs), water, organic solvent residue (OSR), and non-volatile residue (NVR)) were quantified separately. The amount of RSIs was determined using a combination of three quantification methods. To ensure metrological traceability in the determination of RSIs, at least one such impurity in each candidate amino acid reference material was quantified using liquid chromatography-isotope dilution tandem mass spectrometry (LC-IDMS/MS).

Analytes and internal standards (IS) were extracted from human plasma by Oasis HLB SPE cartridge, followed by a reversed phase LC-MS/MS analysis using multiple reaction monitoring (MRM) in positive mode (m/z 268 → 237 for apomorphine, 348 → 237 for apomorphine sulfate, and 348 → 237 for norapomorphine). Stable isotope-labeled compounds were used as IS for respective analytes.

The influence of spark plasma sintering (SPS) conditions on the optical and mechanical properties of MgAl₂O₄ spinel was investigated for application to infrared windows as parts of military systems. The thermal conditions of SPS, including the temperature and heating rate, have a significant impact on optical and mechanical properties. This study shows that the formation and growth of abnormal grains cause mechanical degradation with an increasing SPS temperature.
