Objective: To investigate the correlation between chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) and bronchial asthma, focusing on the CRS without nasal polyps (CRSsNP) and CRS with nasal polyps (CRSwNP), as well as their impact on lung function.
Methods: A total of 141 patients diagnosed with chronic nasal-sinus inflammation were included in this study. Clinical data, including medical histories, nasal endoscopy scores, CT scores, symptom scores, and quality of life assessments, were collected.

In northern China, soil temperature slowly rises in spring, often subjecting apple roots to sub-low-temperature stress. Sugar acts as both a nutrient and signaling molecule in roots in response to low-temperature stress. To explore the effects of exogenous sugars on the growth and nutrient absorption of Borkh.

Considering severe limitations in the discovery and supply of new antibiotics, there is an unmet need to design alternative and more effective strategies for addressing this global issue. Use of polymeric nanoparticles with cationic shell surfaces offers a highly promising approach to coupling their inherent bactericidal action with sustained delivery of small lipophilic microbicides.

Here, through establishing CS exposure models in rat and SH-SY5Y cells, we demonstrated that highly expressed α-synuclein (α-Syn) is transferred to mitochondria via membrane proteins such as Tom20 and leads to mitochondrial dysfunction and mitochondrial oxidative stress, which ultimately causes neuronal injury. We first found significant mitochondrial damage and oxidative stress in CS-exposed rat midbrain and SH-SY5Y cells and showed that mitochondrial oxidative stress was the main factor of mitochondrial damage by Mitoquinone intervention.

Using a rat model, we investigated the effects of chronic CS exposure on parkinsonian pathology. Our results showed that CS exposure leads to significant motor impairment and neuronal damage, including loss of dopaminergic neurons and degeneration of the substantia nigra pars compacta (SNpc).

Nanocarriers that could collectively take advantage of several endogenous stimuli can offer a powerful tool in nanomedicine. Herein, we have capitalized on the chemical versatility of a single tertiary amine to construct miktoarm polymer-based nanocarriers that respond to dissolved CO, varied pH, reactive oxygen species (ROS), and ROS + CO.

In clinical practice, crude Alpinia oxyphylla Fructus (CAOF) and salt-processed Alpinia oxyphylla Fructus (SAOF) are the two commonly used drugs specificated in the prevention and treatment of diabetic nephropathy (DN). However, the intestinal micro ecology regulation between CAOF and SAOF on DN has not been reported.

This study demonstrates the implementation of the first comprehensive OF drug testing program in the United States, including approved roadside screening OF devices for law enforcement and validated liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS-MS) confirmation methods. Three roadside OF screening devices were evaluated: the Dräger DrugTest® 5000, Abbott SoToxa®, and Randox Evidence MultiSTAT™.

IP3R-3 is an important transmembrane Ca channel on the endoplasmic reticulum (ER), previous studies have found that ACR could induce Ca-dependent calpain activation and axon injury, but the exact role of IP3R-3 in ACR neuropathy is still unclear. Here we show that ACR exposure (40 mg/kg) markedly increased the ubiquitination of IP3R-3 in rat spinal cords, and promoted the degradation of IP3R-3 through the ubiquitin-proteasome pathway.

However, the mechanisms remain poorly understood. Sterile alpha and toll/interleukin 1 receptor motif-containing protein 1 (SARM1) is the central determinant of axonal degeneration and has crosstalk with different cell death programs to determine neuronal survival.

SARM1 has a mitochondrial targeting sequence, and it can bind to and stabilize PTEN-induced putative kinase 1 (PINK1) for mitophagy induction, but the deletion of the mitochondrial localization sequence is found to disrupt the mitochondrial localization of SARM1 in neurons without altering its ability to promote axon degeneration after axotomy. The biological significance of SARM1 mitochondrial localization remains elusive.

Moreover, sterile-α and toll/interleukin 1 receptor motif-containing protein 1 (SARM1), the central executioner of the programmed axonal destruction process under various insults, is up-regulated in ACR neuropathy. However, it remains unclear whether inhibitors targeting SARM1 are effective or not.

However, the commonly employed perovskite polycrystalline films often contain a high density of defects created during film production and cell operation, including unsaturated coordinated Pb and Pb, which can act as nonradiative recombination centers, thus reducing open-circuit voltage. Effectively eliminating both kinds of defects is an important subject of research to improve the power conversion efficiency (PCE).

Purpose: Neuraxial (spinal and epidural) anesthesia is the cornerstone of ensuring the satisfaction rate of painless delivery; however, whether it prolongs the first stage of labor remains controversial. Although current clinical research results tend to be negative, the conclusions are not convincing due to the lack of basic research. This study was conducted to provide a theoretical reference for this controversy through basic research.
