Although adverse events of proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) have been reported, there are few studies on physicians' perceptions. We aimed to investigate physicians' awareness of PPI-related adverse events and changes in treatment patterns according to their practice. We conducted an online survey of physicians using a 15-item questionnaire.

Reduced acoustic resonator dimensions improve focusing efficiency of bacteria and submicron particles.

In this study, we demonstrate an acoustofluidic device that enables single-file focusing of submicron particles and bacteria using a two-dimensional (2D) acoustic standing wave. The device consists of a 100 μm × 100 μm square channel that supports 2D particle focusing in the channel center at an actuation frequency of 7.39 MHz.

Calculation of AeroMACS Spectrum Requirements Based on Traffic Simulator.

In this paper, we propose a methodology for calculating the necessary spectrum requirements of aeronautical mobile airport communication system (AeroMACS) to provide various airport communication services. To accurately calculate the spectrum requirement, it is necessary to evaluate the AeroMACS traffic demand of the peak time and statistical data on the packet traffic generated at the airport. Because there is no AeroMACS traffic model and real trace data, we have developed the AeroMACS traffic simulator based on the report of Single European Sky Air Traffic Management Research (SESAR).

Movement Path Data Generation from Wi-Fi Fingerprints for Recurrent Neural Networks.

The recurrent neural network (RNN) model, which is a deep-learning network that can memorize past information, is used in this paper to memorize continuous movements in indoor positioning to reduce positioning error. To use an RNN model in Wi-Fi-fingerprint based indoor positioning, data set must be sequential. However, Wi-Fi fingerprinting only saves the received signal strength indicator for a location, so it cannot be used as RNN data.

Efficacy of local hyaluronidase administration in guided bone regeneration surgery: a randomized controlled trial.

Objectives: Hyaluronoglucosaminidase (hyaluronidase) increases the local intercellular permeability of the peripheral lymphatic channel and capillaries, which may help reduce edema. In the present study, the effects of hyaluronidase on postoperative edema and pain reduction were evaluated.

Materials And Methods: The study included 38 patients who underwent guided bone regeneration (GBR) surgery before implantation.

Surgical extrusion of a maxillary premolar after orthodontic extrusion: a retrospective study.

Objectives: Crown-root fracture and cervical caries in maxillary premolars constitute a challenge in cases of subgingival placement of restoration margins. Surgical extrusion has been practiced successfully in permanent anterior teeth. The aim of the present retrospective study was to assess the clinical outcome of surgical extrusion after orthodontic extrusion in maxillary premolars.

Sinus bone graft and simultaneous vertical ridge augmentation: case series study.

Background: This study aims to examine the outcome of simultaneous maxillary sinus lifting, bone grafting, and vertical ridge augmentation through retrospective studies.

Methods: From 2005 to 2010, patients with exhibited severe alveolar bone loss received simultaneous sinus lifting, bone grafting, and vertical ridge augmentations were selected. Fifteen patients who visited in Seoul National University Bundang Hospital were analyzed according to clinical records and radiography.

Background: Implants are becoming the first choice of rehabilitation for tooth loss. Even though they have a high success rate, failures still occur for many reasons. The objective of this study is to analyze the reasons for recurring failure at the same site and the results of re-implantation.

Purpose: Various complications occur when a maxillofacial fracture is malunionized or improperly resolved. Malocclusion is the most common complication, followed by facial deformity, temporomandibular joint disorder (TMD), and neurological symptoms. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the dental treatment of postoperative complications after maxillofacial fracture.

Factors affecting treatment outcomes in patients with oral lichen planus lesions: a retrospective study of 113 cases.

Purpose: Oral lichen planus (OLP) is a chronic oral mucosal disease that has been recognized as an immune condition. The purpose of this study was to evaluate factors affecting the clinical outcomes of topical corticosteroid application on OLP lesions using dexamethasone gargle and ointment.

Methods: The charts of patients who were clinically diagnosed with OLP and treated with dexamethasone from July 2003 to August 2017 at the Section of Dentistry of Seoul National University Bundang Hospital were thoroughly evaluated to identify subjects who were suitable for this retrospective study.

A QoS aware resource allocation strategy for 3D A/V streaming in OFDMA based wireless systems.

Three-dimensional (3D) video is expected to be a "killer app" for OFDMA-based broadband wireless systems. The main limitation of 3D video streaming over a wireless system is the shortage of radio resources due to the large size of the 3D traffic. This paper presents a novel resource allocation strategy to address this problem.

A Case of Myopathy, Encephalopathy, Lactic Acidosis and Stroke-Like Episodes (MELAS) Syndrome with Intracardiac Thrombus [corrected].

Myopathy, encephalopathy, lactic acidosis and stroke-like episodes (MELAS) is a multisystem clinical syndrome manifested by mitochondrial myopathy, encephalopathy, lactic acidosis and recurrent stroke-like episodes. A 27-year-old female with MELAS syndrome presented with cerebral infarction. Echocardiography revealed a thrombus attached to the apex of the hypertrophied left ventricle, with decreased systolic function.

Pitfalls and Security Measures for the Mobile EMR System in Medical Facilities.

Objectives: The goal of this paper is to examine the security measures that should be reviewed by medical facilities that are trying to implement mobile Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems designed for hospitals.

Methods: The study of the security requirements for a mobile EMR system is divided into legal considerations and sectional security investigations. Legal considerations were examined with regard to remote medical services, patients' personal information and EMR, medical devices, the establishment of mobile systems, and mobile applications.

Coexistence of WiFi and WiMAX systems based on PS-request protocols.

We introduce both the coexistence zone within the WiMAX frame structure and a PS-Request protocol for the coexistence of WiFi and WiMAX systems sharing a frequency band. Because we know that the PS-Request protocol has drawbacks, we propose a revised PS-Request protocol to improve the performance. Two PS-Request protocols are based on the time division operation (TDO) of WiFi system and WiMAX system to avoid the mutual interference, and use the vestigial power management (PwrMgt) bit within the Frame Control field of the frames transmitted by a WiFi AP.

Clinical characteristics of dental emergencies and prevalence of dental trauma at a university hospital emergency center in Korea.

Aim: The aim of this study was to examine the clinical characteristics of dental emergency patients who visited a university hospital emergency center and to evaluate the incidence of dental trauma.

Materials And Methods: A retrospective chart review of patients with dental complaints and who visited the Seoul National University Bundang Hospital (SNUBH) emergency center in Gyeonggi-do, Korea, from January 2009 to December 2009 was conducted. Information regarding age, gender, the time, day, and month of presentation, diagnosis, treatment, and follow up was collected and analyzed.

[A case of osteomalacia related to adefovir in a patient with chronic hepatitis B].

Adefovir dipivoxil, an acyclic nucleoside analogue, has been approved for the treatment of patients with chronic hepatitis B. This agent is efficacious particularly in those who have developed lamivudine resistance. The report according to hypophosphatemia induced by low dose adefovir therapy is very rare.

Autotransplantation of teeth with complete root formation: a case series.

Introduction: Autotransplantation is a viable option for treating missing teeth when a donor tooth is available. This retrospective study reports the success rate for the autotransplantation of 19 molars with complete root formation.

Methods: The study enrolled 19 patients (11 men and 8 women) in whom 19 molars were transplanted.

Effect of light-cure time of adhesive resin on the thickness of the oxygen-inhibited layer and the microtensile bond strength to dentin.

A thick oxygen-inhibited layer (OIL) on a cured adhesive layer (AL) is believed to result in both good adaptation of composite resin (CR) and high bond strength. A high degree of conversion (DC) of the AL is also needed for durable bonding. This study evaluated the hypothesis that increasing the DC by prolonging the light-curing time of adhesive bonding resin might decrease the bond strength of the adhesive to dentin because of the subsequent thinning of the OIL thickness.

A unique structural pattern shared by T-cell-activating and abscess-regulating zwitterionic polysaccharides.

In contrast to the conventional dogma that carbohydrates are poorly immunogenic T-cell-independent antigens, zwitterionic polysaccharides (ZPSs) can significantly stimulate T-cell proliferation and regulate abscess formation in bacterial infection. Despite their similar biological activities, ZPSs from various bacteria are greatly different in primary chemical compositions and building block linkages. To identify the common structural features that govern the peculiar immunologic activity of ZPSs, we have been determining three-dimensional structures of compositionally different ZPSs by NMR spectroscopy and molecular mechanics and dynamics calculations.
