Introduction: Minimizing postprandial glucose response is an important goal for overall diabetes management. Diabetes-specific nutritional shakes (DSNS) have been clinically shown to minimize postprandial glucose response in people with type 2 diabetes (T2DM) compared to high-glycemic foods. However, it is unknown how a high-protein, low-fat DSNS impacts the GLP-1 response.

Although many epidemiological surveys for patients with psoriasis have been reported based on individual countries or facilities, there has been no study encompassing the major countries or the region in Asia. The Asian Society for Psoriasis (ASP) has been conducting an epidemiological study across various Asian countries and regions to elucidate the and compare the epidemiology of psoriasis. A total of 1948 cases were analyzed, with 938 cases from Japan, 530 cases from China, 325 cases from Korea, 141 cases from Chinese Taipei, and 14 cases from Thailand, all of which were enrolled between 2020 and 2022.

Intrinsic immunologic disparity of psoriasis itself, along with chronic inflammation and immunomodulatory anti-psoriatic treatments could be associated with increased risk of malignancy. We aimed to estimate the risk of malignancy in patients with psoriasis by treatment modality compared with that in individuals without psoriasis in Korea. We conducted a nationwide cohort study using the claims database of the National Health Insurance Service from January 2005 to December 2018.

Following the introduction of pneumococcal conjugate vaccines (PCVs), the rate of invasive pneumococcal disease (IPD) declined, however, IPDs replaced by serotypes that are not included in the vaccine have emerged. We describe the epidemiology of IPD in South Korea over a 4.5-year period, encompassing the impact following introduction of PCV10/13 and PPSV23 into the public immunization program, and assess serotype dynamics in pediatric and adult population.

: Five of the most abundant human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs) in human milk are 2'-fucosyllactose (2'-FL), 3-fucosyllactose (3-FL), lacto-N-tetraose (LNT), 3'-sialyllactose (3'-SL) and 6'-sialyllactose (6'-SL). : A randomized, double-blind, controlled parallel feeding trial evaluated growth in healthy term infants fed a control milk-based formula (CF; n = 129), experimental milk-based formula (EF; n = 130) containing five HMOs (5.75 g/L; 2'-FL, 3-FL, LNT, 3'-SL and 6'-SL) or human milk (HM; n = 104).

This nationwide population-based cohort study aimed to investigate the impact of systemic anti-inflammatory treatment on the major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) risk in patients with psoriasis from January 2006 to December 2018, using a database provided by the Korean National Health Insurance Service. Patients were grouped based on the following treatment modalities: biologics, phototherapy, methotrexate, cyclosporine, and mixed conventional systemic agents. Patients who had not received any systemic treatment were assigned to the control cohort.

Background & Aims: The world's over-65 population is expanding rapidly, and the risk of malnutrition is prevalent in this population. Meeting nutritional needs is a recognized strategy to reduce and address multiple debilitating adverse health outcomes associated with malnutrition. The objective of this randomized, controlled trial was to determine the effects of oral nutritional supplement (ONS) containing beta-hydroxy-beta-methylbutyrate (HMB), along with dietary counseling, on health outcomes in community-dwelling older adults at risk of malnutrition.

Background: Psoriasis is an immune-mediated inflammatory disease in which imbalance of the immunological response may be associated with disease severity and comorbidities. Latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI) is a growing concern for treatment of psoriasis, as the use of biologics has recently increased.

Objectives: To investigate the clinical and immunological influence of LTBI on the features of psoriasis.

Impaired immunity and changes in the microenvironment in patients with diabetes might influence the composition of the cutaneous microbiome. However, data on the cutaneous microbiome of these patients are scarce. This study compared the fungal and bacterial components of the skin microbiome between patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM) and healthy individuals.

Interleukin 17 (IL-17) plays pivotal role in the pathogenesis of psoriasis. In a previous study, we identified a locus in the IL17F gene that is associated with psoriasis, the IL17F rs763780 (His161Arg) T/C variant. The current study aimed to elucidate the association between this polymorphism and psoriasis, and to determine its effect on serum levels of cytokine.

Guselkumab, an interleukin-23 blocker, was superior to placebo and adalimumab and well-tolerated in phase 3 psoriasis studies (VOYAGE 1 and VOYAGE 2). This analysis evaluated the consistency of response in the Asian subpopulation in VOYAGE 1 and VOYAGE 2. Study designs were identical through week 24; patients were randomized to guselkumab, placebo, or adalimumab.

Background: Although oral antihistamines (H1-histamine receptor antagonists) are the main treatment option for pruritus in general skin dermatosis, their effect in treating pruritus of atopic dermatitis (AD) has not yet been established.

Objective: We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to evaluate the effectiveness of combined therapy of H1-antihistamines and topical steroids.

Methods: We systematically searched MEDLINE, Embase, and CENTRAL databases for articles published from 1967 to 2015.

Objective: The aim of this study was to examine the impact of pre-existing malnutrition on survival and economic implications in elderly patients with diabetes.

Research Design And Methods: A retrospective observational study was conducted to examine the impact of malnutrition with or without other significant health conditions on survival time and healthcare costs using the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) data from 1999 to 2014 for beneficiaries with a confirmed first date of initial diagnosis of diabetes (n=15 121 131). The primary outcome was survival time, which was analyzed using all available data and after propensity score matching.

Background: Immunoglobulin E (IgE) plays an important role in allergic diseases. Although several studies have shown the association of serum total IgE and allergen-specific IgE levels with allergic dermatological diseases such as atopic dermatitis, there are few studies addressing this association for skin diseases in general.

Aims: We sought to evaluate IgE levels in skin diseases and investigate the differences based on the disease type and clinical factors such as gender and age.
