Introduction: Historically, cerclage wires were not used in the treatment of clavicle fractures because of their invasiveness. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the radiologic results and the incidence of complications following cerclage wire application and plate fixation in the treatment of comminuted mid-shaft clavicle fractures.
Materials And Methods: A total of 116 patients with comminuted mid-shaft clavicle fractures who underwent open reduction and internal fixation were reviewed.
Background: Dog-ear and bird-beak deformities are common after transosseous-equivalent repair (suture bridge technique). The natural course of deformities after rotator cuff (RC) repair using the suture bridge technique is unclear. The remodeling potential of these deformities has not been investigated.

Methods: We evaluated physical findings, radiographic findings, visual analog scale scores for pain and satisfaction, and several functional scores in 179 consecutive patients who underwent RSA at two centers between 2008 and 2014.
Purpose: The objective of the study is to determine clinical and radiological outcomes of arthroscopic repair for delaminated tears versus non-delaminated tears.
Methods: Consecutive 138 patients with full-thickness rotator cuff tear were retrospectively enrolled. They were divided into two groups based on the presence of delamination.
Previous studies have shown that the mixture of extracts of grape pomace and omija (GO) improved oxidative stress and obesity in mice. This study first investigated the dose-response effects of GO on oxidative stress and fat-pad mass. Male C57BL/KsJ-/ mice were fed the following three experimental diets for 7 weeks: a normal control, high-dose grape pomace plus omija (HGO; 0.

Materials And Methods: A retrospective study of 12 patients (16 cases) diagnosed with ankylosing spondylitis undergoing total hip arthroplasty with cemented femoral stem from November 2002 to January 2006 with a minimum follow up of 10 years. Clinical outcomes were assessed using Harris Hip Scores and measures of pain and range of motion.
Background: Degenerative rotator cuff tears (RCTs) are generally thought to originate at the anterior margin of the supraspinatus tendon. However, a recent ultrasonography study suggested that they might originate more posteriorly than originally thought, perhaps even from the isolated infraspinatus (ISP) tendon, and propagate toward the anterior supraspinatus. Hypothesis/Purpose: It was hypothesized that this finding could be reproduced with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

Background: Among the many causes of rotator cuff tears, scapular morphology is associated with the accelerating degenerative process of the rotator cuff. Acromion index (AI) was previously introduced and compared in two populations.
Methods: We enrolled 100 Korean patients diagnosed with full-thickness rotator cuff tears by magnetic resonance imaging and intraoperative arthroscopic findings between January and December 2013.
Purpose: To compare the occurrences of perioperative complications of two anesthetic techniques (general anesthesia [GA] and spinal anesthesia [SA] in patients undergoing primary unilateral total knee arthroplasty (TKA).
Materials And Methods: Patients who underwent unilateral primary TKA due to osteoarthritis from January 2005 to January 2014 were retrospectively reviewed. They were divided into two groups: GA (n=490) and SA (n=746).

Diabetic kidney disease is the most common and severe chronic complication of diabetes. The leaf of Thumb (persimmon) has been commonly used for herbal tea and medicinal purposes to treat a variety of conditions, including hypertension and atherosclerosis. However, the effect of persimmon leaf on kidney failure has not been investigated.

Materials And Methods: A total of 489 TKA patients (776 knees) were retrospectively reviewed for the incidence of thromboembolic events and complications related to bleeding. While 233 patients (354 knees) were treated with a mechanical compressive device without LMWH, 256 patients (422 knees) were treated with the mechanical compressive device along with LMWH.
Scope: A number of findings suggest that zero-calorie d-allulose, also known as d-psicose, has beneficial effects on obesity-related metabolic disturbances. However, it is unclear whether d-allulose can normalize the metabolic status of diet-induced obesity without having an impact on the energy density. We investigated whether 5% d-allulose supplementation in a high fat diet(HFD) could normalize body fat in a diet-induced obesity animal model under isocaloric pair-fed conditions.

This study investigated the effects of a flavonoid-rich ethanol extract of persimmon leaf (PL), an ethanol extract of Citrus junos Sieb (CJS), and a PL-CJS mixture (MPC) on mice fed a highfat diet (HFD). We sought to elucidate the mechanisms of biological activity of these substances using measurements of blood coagulation indices and lipid metabolism parameters. C57BL/6J mice were fed a HFD with PL (0.

We recently demonstrated that PL had antithrombotic properties in vitro. However, little is known about the antiplatelet and anticoagulant properties of PL in vivo.

Materials/methods: Forty male C57BL/6J mice were divided into four groups and fed high-fat diet (control group, CON) or high-fat diet added 0.5% grape pomace extract (GPE), 0.
The subscapularis tendon plays an essential role in shoulder function. Although subscapularis tendon tears are less common than other rotator cuff tears, tears of the subscapularis tendon have increasingly been recognized with the advent of magnetic resonance imaging and arthroscopy. A suture bridge technique for the treatment of posterosuperior rotator cuff tears has provided the opportunity to improve the pressurized contact area and mean footprint pressure.

Purpose: To compare the clinical results between patients who had distal clavicle resection (DCR) and those who did not during RC repair.
Study Design: Randomized controlled trial; Level of evidence, 1.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to define the subscapularis tendon footprint anatomy in 3-dimensional (3D) perspective, report the incidence of tears, and classify the tear patterns prospectively during shoulder arthroscopic surgery.
Methods: The cadaveric study consisted of a pilot study that revealed 4 different bony facets by simple observation at the subscapularis attachment. The 3D footprint anatomy was digitally evaluated in 39 cadavers.
The present study investigated the effects of soybean leaf extracts (SLEs) on blood glucose, insulin resistance, body fat and dyslipidemia in prediabetes subjects, and compared them with the effects of banaba extracts (BE) which is known to ameliorate diabetes in several animals and clinical studies. Overweight subjects with mild hyperglycemia (fasting blood glucose level of 100-125 mg dL(-1)) were randomly assigned to three groups and administered four capsules containing starch (2 g per day, Placebo), BE (300 mg per day, 0.3% corosolic acid) or SLE (2 g per day) during regular meals for 12 weeks.

In the present study, we evaluated the effects of an ethanol extract of Artemisia princeps Pampanini (EAP) and its major flavonoids, eupatilin and jaceosidin, on platelet aggregation and coagulation. To determine the antiplatelet activity, arachidonic acid (AA)-, collagen- and ADP (adenosine diphosphate)-induced platelet aggregation were examined along with serotonin and thromboxane A2 (TXA2) generation in vitro.
