The present study was designed to assess the influence of dietary supplementation with chestnut bee pollen at various levels in rainbow trout, Oncorhynchus mykiss. For two weeks feeding period, a total of 300 fish were allocated into 12 fiberglass tanks and divided into four equal groups, three replicates each, with chestnut bee pollen (BP) dietary inclusion as follows; the fish group was given a basal diet (C); fish group fed a diet supplemented with BP 1% (BP-1); fish group fed a diet supplemented with BP 2% (BP-2); and fish group fed a diet supplemented with BP 4% (BP-3). At the end of the experiment, growth, haematological values, immune status, antioxidant status, and survival rate against Aeromonas salmonicida subsp.

In this study, ameliorative effects of ellagic acid (EA) on oxidative stress induced by chlorpyrifos (CPF) in carp, , were investigated. Fish were divided into six groups: C (no treatment), EA (100 mg kg fish), CPF-1 (0.040 mg L), CPF-2 (0.

Chlorpyrifos (CPF) is an organophosphate pesticide that is frequently and widely used to control both agricultural and domestic pests worldwide. In this study, the protective effect of Fennel (Foeniculum vulgare) essential oil (FEO) was investigated in carp (Cyprinus carpio) exposed to CPF. The fish were divided into six groups that one control group (no treatment) and five experimental groups (FEO (3ml/100g diet) group, CPF (0.

The present study was conducted to evaluate the effects of various levels of dietary curcumin on growth performance, haematological values, immunity and protection against Aeromonas salmonicida subsp. achromogenes infection in rainbow trout, Oncorhynchus mykiss. Fish were fed with diets containing different levels of curcumin; 0% (C), %1 (E1), %2 (E2) and %4 (E3), as treatment groups.

In this study, the effect of Tunceli garlic (Allium tuncelianium) on hemoglobin (Hb) level, oxidative radical production of neutrophils (Nitoblue tetrazolium assay-NBT activity) and total immunoglobulin (TI) content in carp (Cyprinus carpio) exposed to chlorpyrifos (CPF)  was investigated. The 96 hour LC50 value of CPF on C. carpio was calculated to as 0.

The aim of this study was to determine protective effects of curcumin on some haematological values and oxidant/antioxidant status in Cyprinus carpio exposed to chlorpyrifos. The fish were exposed to two sublethal concentrations of chlorpyrifos (0.040 and 0.

Four different crayfish diets; control, E1, E2 and E3, respectively containing 0, 1, 2 and 4% propolis, were tested to determine the effects of dietary propolis on the number and size of pleopadal egg, and malondialdehyde (MDA) level, superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT) and glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) activities in the freshwater crayfish (Astacus leptodactylus). The crayfish were kept at 9.6±5.

This study examined the effect of dietary n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) on malondialdehyde (MDA), superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) and reduced glutathione (GSH) levels; semen and liver fatty acid compositions; and spermatological values (semen volume and pH, sperm density, percentage and duration of sperm motility) in rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) under regular stripping conditions. For this purpose, one control and two experimental diets were prepared as isonitrogenous and isocaloric. The control diet did not contain n-3 PUFA.

Trichlorfon is among the most commonly used products to treat fish parasites in aquaculture. We investigated the effectiveness of propolis in alleviating the toxicity of trichlorfon on haematological and oxidant/antioxidant parameters in carp Cyprinus carpio. Fish were exposed to sublethal concentrations (11 and 22 mg l-1) of trichlorfon, and propolis (10 mg kg-1 of fish weight) was simultaneously administered.

Ethnopharmacological Relevance: Rhododendron honey, locally known as "mad honey", contains gryanotoksin (GTX) and thus induces toxic effects when consumed in large amounts. But, it is still popularly used for treating medical conditions such as high blood pressure or gastro-intestinal disorders. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of GTX on antioxidant parameters measured from rats fed with Rhododendron honey.

The present study investigated the potential ameliorative effects of propolis against malathion toxicity in the blood and various tissues of carp. The fish were exposed to sublethal concentrations of malathion (0.5 and 1 mg/L) for 10 days, and propolis (10 mg/kg of fish weight) was simultaneously administered.

The aim of this study was to investigate the ameliorative properties of lycopene against the toxic effects of cypermethrin (CYP) by examining oxidative damage markers such as lipid peroxidation and the antioxidant defense system components in carp (Cyprinus carpio). The fish were divided into seven groups of 10 fish each and received the following treatments: group 1, no treatment; group 2, orally administered corn oil; group 3, oral lycopene (10 mg/kg body weight); group 4, exposure to 0.202 μg/L CYP; group 5, exposure to 0.

The aim of this study was to determine the effects of lycopene on oxytetracycline (OTC)-induced oxidative stress and immunosuppression in rainbow trout. The experimental fish analysed in this study were divided into 6 different experimental groups. Group 1 was the control group, and groups 2, 3 and 4 received corn oil, lycopene and OTC, respectively, for 14 days.

The aim of the present study was to investigate the ameliorative properties of propolis against the toxic effects of chromium (VI) by examining oxidative damage markers such as lipid peroxidation and the antioxidant defence system components in carp (Cyprinus carpio). The fish were exposed to sublethal concentrations of chromium. Propolis was simultaneously administered to chromium-exposed fish.
