Current trends in opportunistic infections in children living with HIV/AIDS in a tertiary care hospital in Northern India.

Introduction: A prospective cohort study was undertaken from November 2010 to March 2012 at Kalawati Saran Children's Hospital (KSCH), Lady Hardinge Medical College (LHMC), New Delhi. The study included all HIV positive children aged between 0-15 years that were registered in the anti-retroviral therapy (ART) centre during the study period. HIV +ve children enrolled at the ART centre were started on ART on the basis of CD4counts (National/NACO guidelines).

Plant Organellar Proteomics in Response to Dehydration: Turning Protein Repertoire into Insights.

Stress adaptation or tolerance in plants is a complex phenomenon involving changes in physiological and metabolic processes. Plants must develop elaborate networks of defense mechanisms, and adapt to and survive for sustainable agriculture. Water-deficit or dehydration is the most critical environmental factor that plants are exposed to during their life cycle, which influences geographical distribution and productivity of many crop species.

Risk factors for carbapenem-resistant Acinetobacter baumanii blood stream infections in a neonatal intensive care unit, Delhi, India.

Introduction: Carbapenem-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii (CRAB) infection is being increasingly observed and is associated with significant morbidity and mortality in newborns. In this study, we determined the epidemiology, risk factors, and outcomes of blood stream infection (BSI) caused by CRAB in neonates.

Methodology: The clinical charts of neonates who developed Acinetobacter baumannii BSI in the period between 1 January 2010 and 31 December 2012 were reviewed.

Diffusion tensor tractography and neuropsychological assessment in patients with vitamin B12 deficiency.

Introduction: Structural imaging of the brain does not demonstrate any changes in a vast majority of patients with vitamin B12 deficiency, even in advanced stages. In this study, we aimed to assess and correlate the functional integrity of the brain fiber tracts using diffusion tensor tractography with neuropsychological examination in patients with vitamin B12 deficiency.

Methods: The study was conducted at two tertiary care centers.

DTI correlates of cognition in term children with spastic diplegic cerebral palsy.

Background And Aims: Presently, there is no published study that shows association between cognition and white matter injury in spastic cerebral palsy. We aimed to correlate cognitive functions with diffusion tensor imaging derived metrics in spastic diplegic children.

Methods: Twenty-two term children with spastic diplegia and 22 healthy controls were recruited.

Comparative assessment of therapeutic response to physiotherapy with or without botulinum toxin injection using diffusion tensor tractography and clinical scores in term diplegic cerebral palsy children.

The present study was to compare the effects of combined therapy [botulinum (BTX) plus physiotherapy] with physiotherapy alone using diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) derived fractional anisotropy (FA) values of motor and sensory fiber bundles and clinical grade of the disability to see the value of BTX in term children with spastic diplegic cerebral palsy (CP). Clinically diagnosed 36 children participated in the study. All these children were born at term, and had no history of seizures.
