The coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) is caused by SARS-CoV-2, leading to acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), thrombotic complications, and myocardial injury. Statins, prescribed for lipid reduction, have anti-inflammatory, anti-thrombotic, and immunomodulatory properties and are associated with reduced mortality rates in COVID-19 patients. Our goal was to investigate the beneficial effects of statins in hospitalized COVID-19 patients admitted to three multi-specialty hospitals in India from 1 June 2020, to 30 April 2021.

Methods: This is a retrospective cohort study conducted across five hospitals in India. Patients diagnosed with COVID-19 and hospitalized with existing and valid medical documentation were included.
Honeydew melon ( L.) is an oval-shaped delicious fruit of one cultivar group of the muskmelon with immense nutritional importance and is extensively consumed by many tropical countries. The effect of various organic solvents on the recovery of phytochemicals from honeydew melon plant fruits and seeds was assessed.

The current investigation reports the structural and biological evaluation of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) biosynthesized from the pericarp extract of L. (muskmelon). The AgNPs were characterized by ultraviolet-visible (UV-Vis) spectrophotometry, XRD (X-ray diffraction), SEM (scanning electron microscopy) and EDAX (energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy).

These nanoparticles are structurally less stable and are basically obtained viaconversion of chitosan, a pure bio-based material, into a hybrid structure of biopolymer and a synthetic chemical. The present work reports a novel attempt to synthesize antimicrobial chitosan nanoparticles by chemical cross-linking with cinnamaldehyde, another eco-friendly bactericidal agent.

Design: Retrospective comparative case series.
Methods: Consecutive eyes that were scheduled for FSL cataract surgery were included in this study.
Unlabelled: We describe a recently developed chopper, the retrochopper, and a technique for managing black and brunescent cataracts. The technique enables the surgeon to effectively disassemble the nucleus and perform a safe procedure with a short learning curve.

This article aims at presenting an experience of professional and medical assistance education using telemedicine as a technology for the promotion and prevention in health care as well as professional qualification of the riverside population living in the margins of Madeira river, in the State of Rondônia. This project comprised a small pole of the telemedicine in the community of Santa Catarina, located by Madeira river, 200 km from the city of Porto Velho, Rondônia State. Field experience was performed between July 17 and 31, 2006, promoting the inclusion of inhabitants of nine riverside communities.

In the normal state, the temperature (T) dependence of 1/T(1) unraveled the existence of low-lying levels in crystal-electric-field multiplets and the formation of a heavy-fermion (HF) state. The coexistence of AFM and SC phases that emerge at T(N)=2.

The temperature (T) dependence of nuclear-spin-lattice-relaxation rate, 1/T(1), and NQR frequency unravel a low-lying crystal-electric-field splitting below T0 approximately 10 K, associated with Pr3+(4f(2))-derived ground state.

Methodology: Thirty-one out of 36 cases were diagnosed correctly to be a pseudocyst, in which 10 cases (32.3%) were treated by surgery.
Sigmoid volvulus occurring concomitantly with megacolon is an uncommon cause of bowel obstruction, and various approaches to treatment have been proposed. We report herein a case of sigmoid volvulus with megacolon that was successfully treated by elective surgery following endoscopic reduction during the same hospital stay. A 70-year-old woman was admitted to our hospital with abdominal pain, distension, and severe constipation.
