Background: Expectant mothers at high risk for preterm labor admitted to the Mother and Child Health Centers (MCH) often have psychological problems and mood disturbances. The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the effects of an interview by health professionals on their mood status.

Background: The aim of the present study was to investigate the role of early changes in cerebral blood flow (CBF) predicting the severity of neurological outcome in asphyxiated infants.

Method: Serial monitoring of CBF was performed using a newly developed laser Doppler flowmeter (LDF) in parallel with conventional hemodynamic monitoring, such as mean arterial blood pressure (mABP) or heart rate (HR) in 11 asphyxiated infants (five infants with neurological sequelae and six infants without sequelae) during the first 4 days of life. Psychomotor development was followed up to 20 months.

Pentalogy of Cantrell is a rare congenital defect associated with five ventral midline anomalies and high mortality. An obstetric sonogram revealed a fetus with a body wall defect suggesting a diagnosis of this condition. Soon after birth, the infant underwent a closure of the upper abdominal wall defect followed by the successful repair of double-outlet right ventricle and pulmonary valve stenosis at the age of 5 months.
