Blue light induced eye damage (BLED) belongs to modern diseases. It is an ophthalmic disease caused by prolonged exposure to electronic devices or screens containing a large amount of high-energy short waves (blue light). Specific symptoms include dryness and discomfort in the eyes, blurred vision, headache, insomnia, and in severe cases, it may also cause various eye diseases such as cataracts and glaucoma.

The efficient extraction of phthalic acid esters (PAEs) is challenging due to their extremely low concentration, complicated matrices and hydrophilicity. Herein, hollow microspheres, as an ideal coating, possess significant potential for solid-phase microextraction (SPME) due to their fascinating properties. In this study, multiwalled carbon nanotube hollow microspheres (MWCNT-HMs) were utilized as a fiber coating for the SPME of PAEs from tea beverages.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study developed a new sorbent made of multiwalled carbon nanotubes on magnetic carbon nanospheres to extract perfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) from environmental water samples using advanced chromatography techniques.
  • - The new sorbent, MWCNTs@FeO@C, underwent thorough characterization and optimization, resulting in effective extraction with wide linear ranges and low detection limits for PFAS compounds.
  • - The method was successfully tested on real water samples, demonstrating that the MWCNTs@FeO@C composites are effective materials for detecting PFAS in environmental studies.

Potential correlation of human papillomavirus (HPV) 16 E6 variants and human leukocyte antigen (HLA) class II polymorphisms has been suggested in patients with cervical cancer, so far little information is available about the possible interaction between E6 variants and HLA class II variability during the obviously accelerated progression to cervical cancer in young women. In this study, we aimed to explore the association between the HPV16 E6 variants and HLA-DRB1, DQB1 alleles in a Chinese young cervical cancer population. The HLA-DRB1, HLA-DQB1 polymophisms were genotyped by low-resolution polymerase chain reaction (PCR) with sequence-specific primer.
